Spot on assessment, if it makes the BB 200 chart at all, I'd be surprised but mid 100s at best if it's an otherwise slow week and 10-20K could do that. But it's already platinum on Bulls chart, and the M.I.A. shrine is rivaling the Amy W. one I'm sure.... [/b]
B.-Damus strikes again.
Sort Of.
"Eclectic Interscope artist M.I.A. arrives at No. 18 with her sophomore album, "Kala," which moved 29,000. It's the follow-up to 2005's "Arular," which reached No. 3 on the Top Electronic Albums chart and No. 14 on Heatseekers." Cot damn, the record business is complelety fucked right now. On the flipside, I'm glad M.I.A.'s keeping a nice lil' buzz (critical, word of mouth,& tastemakers/hipsters such as you all) going for herself. I don't think it'll ever translate to sales success, but she can get still that show money. However - if she gets with Timbaland for a whole album, then she could get some mainstream love without watering down her product. But whatever.
