Soledad Brothers

Megs and I are going to the Soledads show tonight. Anyone else?

I'm aiming for it. Have no idea what they sound like, but they get mentioned alongside a lot of good bands. Plus the drummer is dating Meg White. Good enough for me!

They're terrific live (saw 'em open for the Stripes).  (Relaxer: two piece blues-rock band..heard that before?)  I canna go tonight, though, so megs and kurosawa, please rock out extra hard for me.

Just to follow up, it was a great (though short) show. The addition of Oliver Henry on guitar and sax adds so much. If you saw them as a two-piece, I think you would be really surprised at how full (and more rounded) the sound is now. They basically jammed the whole time with heavy blues rock. I loved it. (And yes, Walkman, we rocked out.) I think I prefered the songs with two guitars -though the sax songs were pretty cool. Ben is an incredible drummer, and I am officially envious of Meg White. Oliver is both talented and gorgeous. I also liked the opening band. They are local and are called (Megs, correct me if I'm wrong) The Snuff Project? Retro rock sound and fun.

ditto to everything kurosawa said. i would have shaken it with the best of them, but i was strangely mesmerized by the loveliness of oliver henry. but i did manage to notice how super fabulous the soledad brothers are. i feel very lucky to have seen them in the backstage of the 'cat with a handful of other lucky people. anytime anyone gets the chance to see them, do! oh, and kurosawa my darling you were so right. the opening band was the snuff project, and they too were fantastic! what a night!

i wanted to check them out after hearing how good they were but i missed the show   can anyone tell me how the name is promounced? is it like soul-dad brothers?

The Panthers spearheaded a massive campaign to save the Soledad Brothers from the gas chamber. The nationwide coalescence of prisoners and support groups around the case converted the scattered, disparate prison struggles into a national prison movement.
