Jeez - where is everyone?  Must've been some after-party.

Fun night. Last time I saw Markie he was being escorted off the stage.

Excellent concert, I enjoyed Radio 4 a lot more than I thought I would.  Is it just me or do they sound like a Happy Mondays 21st century style?  The Libs put on a great show, though at times I thought Carl looked tired.  I too was bouncing around onstage at the end.  Some of us had talked to Gary before the show and asked him if it was cool w/ the band, and he said yes, but security might try to get people off.  That ended up being the case...but at least in the middle of it I did see Carl kind of half kick the security guy in a "stop, this is alright" kinda way.

As far as the after party, I ended up not going.  I hung around afterwards just outside 9:30 club, but wasn't approached by anyone claiming to be DC9, so I just decided to go home.  Probably a good idea since i'm sitting here at work barely awake as is.  Someone post and tell us how the afterparty went!

very fun show. the libertines' set started off a bit slow, i thought, but it certainly picked up about 4 or 5 songs in. i'm not familiar with the new record, but most of the tunes sounded pretty good, although certainly not as good as the best stuff from the first one. just good rockin' stuff. the drummer was shirtless the whole set, and then for the encore carl and the other guitarist joined him. y'know, with that drummer, i wouldn't want to be the other guy in the band with my shirt off, but hey, whatever. they both looked quite pubescent. not a hair to be spotted. it was also funny seeing at least 3 or 4 people right near me (and myself) compulsively checking their cell phones for updates on the baseball game.

radio 4 was one of the worst bands i've seen in some time. fucking terrible. tuneless, unoriginal and every song was exactly the same. and that percussionist was totally unnecessary. very shitty.

I thought they sounded more like a combination of Gang of Four and Big Audio Dynamite and ,occasionally, like INXS.  The lead singer looked like a sawed-off David Schwimmer and the pogoing tom/cowbell/maraca/tambourine-playing guy with on-loan-from-Interpol suit disturbed me.

the show last night was amazing! i was right up front behind these two great girls. i'm the one who asked gary, the drummer, if it would be alright to rush the stage. so that is my fault, i hope the 930 staff does not hate me forever for that but it was such a great way to end the evening. also, carl performed "france" in the middle of the set for me cos i'd been requesting it all three shows, so i was absolutely thrilled about that. the aftershow was nothing too exciting, we chatted with radio 4 a bit cos they overheard our conversation about nightmare before christmas, gary gave me a friendly shove, i thanked carl for playing "france" and apologized for the stage rush which was said was "lovely" and i saw anthony as we were leaving. they were all heading upstairs to dance.

 so in summary... GREAT SHOW!

Straight men dancing...willingly. That is completely mind-boggling.

What a great show - had a blast. We were on the right side of the stage enjoying the space (no reason to spill the $5, 6 ounce beers). Gary was signing tickets and taking pictures before the show. Wish I could see them again soon.
