I tend to agree with you. I liked there singles before, but found the albums kind of harder going, just like the charlatans.

The best Charlatans LP IMO is Up To Our Hips. I don't know what it is about that record, but it never sounds dull to me. Each time I put it on, it feels like it has a coherent groove from start to finish. That band has always had turbulent times, but for me that was their creative peak with Rob Collins, who really WAS the Charlatans.
