We sat in the stands, up at the very top (which was cool because you can see well, and you can stand and the fuddies behind you won't yell). I've seen OK Go and Snow Patrol each so many times, I didn't need to fight the 'amateur' rock crowd. Betty, it happens all the time at shows like this; you get so many folks who go to just a couple shows a year, and they're not good with the concert etiquette. Because it's one of their two 2007 shows, they DESERVE to push up/be territorial/blah blah.
Silversun Pickups was good, but all I could think was "I can't wait to see this band at the Black Cat or 9:30." Granted, I was pretty far back, and they rocked pretty well, but their 'reach' isn't quite arena size yet.
Meanwhile, OK Go has really grown in to arena shows. From someone pretty far back, they really reached out and pulled you in. It took a few songs to get going, but I was impressed and psyched for them.
Similarly for Snow Patrol. They've gotten good at these big shows. Gary's great, has so much fun, and is a joy to listen to (both singing and banter). AND, he endeared himself to me all the more for being SO impressed at meeting Bob Mould. He gave Bob a huge shoutout (mentioning both Husker and Sugar), and noted that Copper Blue was an album he listened to endlessly. I loved that. Of course, they no longer play "Wow," my fave song (I much prefer "Final Straw" to the new Eyes album...).
Good show, Bender isn't a great venue, but getting in and out was no problem. Got a space in the garage attached to Bender, so we didn't even need to worry about the rain.
