Bloc Party
« on: March 22, 2007, 01:03:00 pm »
Got notice for tix in Myrtle Beach of all places for June 1st, after the remaining US/Can dates through March they're in UK-Europe through mid May so since a one-off in SC is unlikely looks like the Eastern seaboard and other spots late May to Mid June...if anyone is interested.  Oh support is the Noisettes.

"Black Party.

And if the "indie-rocker" is black, does that change your calculation?  The Dears, TV on the Radio, when will they be "tokens" from you're perspective?

You probably missed the "blipster" bru-ha-ha on Brooklynvegan, but I think if you continue with this line of thought you can start your own.  With or without racist intent, you're really borderline but I suppose if that concerned you it wouldn't have been written.

I'd love to hear your explanation though, perhaps you could make it a two-fer and throw in a comment about BP also being the token homosexual-fronted band and really stir things up.

He's not african-american because he's Canadian, but in the generic sense of the term he's a person "of color" and certainly not caucasion (spell?), but that's not really your point, is it?

I always thought he was a dark skinned Indian, but then I read something else that implied he may be of African descent.

But he may as well be white. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

My favorite moment at a Bloc Party show:

The band comes out, some girl next to me says to her friend "I didn't realize he was African American"

 I say "He's not, he's English."

If only you could see the confused looks on their faces.

then again, maybe you really are darker skinned than murray... or are you referring to his musical style as not being "traditionally black sounding"?
