surprised no one has mentioned caribou's set? maybe no one was there for that? well, i missed maybe the first 5 mins of their set, but was right up in front. it was a tight set, and not knowing how they sounded was beyond pleasantly surprised. reminded me of shoegaze meets 60's psychedelic rock. seems they played a solid 45 mins. the 2 guys on drums were incredible, feeding off of each other. was a great opener for SFA.
[rant]cant stand how so many people in front think its perfectly acceptable to talk in regular toned voices over the set! go to the back of the room or just shut up! i certainly didnt pay money to hear you talk about your parents and girlfriends or whatever you feel is so damn important. i dont care if i pay 15$ or 60$ give the artist some f'ing respect![/rant]
as for SFA, it was my first time seeing them. a friend in scotland kept telling me i had to see them or he'd come here and kill me. loved the visuals on the screen. started with mostly their new stuff (as others mentioned), and i def. think their new stuff works better live. played a solid hour before they took their break.
the encore sent the crowd into a frenzy (at least the front where i was), and everyone was jumping/dancing/ having a great time, singing along. their early stuff def. won the crowd over. the encore was a tight 45 min set. must say that the whole bush/govt video was rather funny. of cousre, if i were pro-bush, well id probably not have been laughing. anyway slagged the govt and what not. fitting on election day no less. the show impressed me beyond anything i expected. went in, not even sure id stay the entire night, but had a great time! couldnt have asked for a better show and both these bands complemented each other quite nicely!
