brilliant is the last words i would use to describe the Bravery.  they were good. but absoltely nothing special or brilliant at all

worth $10 but really, it wasnt all that.

but they were trying really hard. so I'll give em that.

the crowd at Fletchers was kinda odd. mostly it looked like all the people who read the great write-up in Rolling Stone.

I thought the show at Fletcher's was awesome! You gotta give it to them: they have style, attitude, looks AND their music is incredibly fun! I can't wait until the Black Cat show. I wish they'd add in another Baltimore date. I didn't see anyone handing out free stuff...damnit!

Exactly how I felt, especially after seeing the Arcade Fire only days earlier.  I was entertained, but not wow'd.

Worth every $ of $10, but nothing that I had to tell people about.

There are quite a few of bands with the look, the attitude and the fun sound that do it better than the Bravery.  I felt the lead singer was tring a little too hard, which makes it more of an act.  But I'll pick up a used copy of the album in time.

Okay, rather than hijack the Just Announced thread, tell me about these guys.  Would I like them (for those of you who have an idea what I go for...)?  Am I a complete loser because I don't know them?  Are they big enough for a pre-sale?  Are there MP3s out there, or better yet, some streaming album or whatever?

 Thanks...

So many questions....

The Bravery are essentially a garage band whose sound has been synthesized.  Not guitars w/ synths ala Killers, but the actual guitar sound has been fooled around with a bit.  Catchy songs, played with just enough agression for them to warrant their black leather jacket look.  Their 3 song EP is available to listen to on their website.  There used to be  mp3's hosted somewhere, which i've downloaded, but i forget where from.  Some searching w/ google and you can probably still find them.

Def not loser for not knowing about them.  Too many indie bands, so little time.  Oh, and there is a presale going on that's available both through their email list and website.

I think you'd enjoy them.  Most of the ladies seem to REALLY enjoy them.  You can listen to their EP on their web site:

 http://www.thebravery.com/

Top right corner launches the Bravery player.

You can also watch the new video for their single "An Honest Mistake" on the site.  Their first video for "Unconditional" was better though, but mainly because it featured dozens of super models.

Their songs are catchy 80's style dance tunes.

I've already got my Ash ticket -- missed the post that noted Bravery is opening.  Cool -- though the 3 songs from the EP aren't sounding particularly inspired to me.

Yeah, The Bravery are going to have to win me over. I've now listened to a few songs and am not sure what I think of them. Will you be back in town for the show, Bags?

I think the show will sell out, Fico. Didn't Ash sell out on their own last time?

Looks like The Bravery are now headlining. From the Black Cat site:

THUR MAR 10- THE BRAVERY, ASH, THE CRIMEA $13 mainstage 8:30
