Another reliably good brewery turns to the dark side

http://www.atlantamagazine.com/drinks/terrapin-quietly-sold-big-beer-betrayed-fans/

it's the way they went about it that really sucks: not saying anything, hoping the noise would go away... not only going to the dark side, but going dark.  it's cynical and sad.

terrapin is good, but not great, beer.  i've bought some in the past when it was the best thing available in a supermarket.  but i can't think of any terrapin beer that i seek out, pick up every time i see it, etc.

FFS what the hell is wrong with people.  This is the american dream.  Build a business based on your passion, do it for a couple of years, sell for a billion dollars.  Who here wouldn't do this?

Yeah, this. When someone here turns down an 8-digit payday to make beer, they can start talking about "the dark side" or whatever.

Had Ocelot / Bluejacket Raised On Promises from a growler (arlbrew) and really enjoyed it

but as IPADAY approaches, I'm less and less excited by IPA's

I don't like Dogfish 90 minute...there's something offputting about the aftertaste....

I will try Bells Two Hearted I guess....I think I've heard of it.

aslin is tapping How Now Brown Cow w/ Coffee & Maple (milk/sweet stout) This Thursday
Barmaid told us this was not to be missed...of course I'm going to miss it :(

My focus on Thursday would be the release of Mind the Hop, on IPA day no less.

But since I'm out of town I'll have to have an ipa or two at Three Floyds Brewpub Thursday.

you didn't want to be a wise ass...!
feeling a little under the weather?
I think you should try Founders All Day IPA, it's somewhat available (safeway/Harris teeter have it)
two hearted is available and good, but I think might be a little richer than you are looking for

Good call on the Founders All Day more so that Two Hearted. Lagunitas Daytime or Stone Go To would also fit the bill imo.

I could probably handle more than six ounces of those, even when I'm not on vacation.

I bought a six pack of lagunitas at CVS yesterday....

i will look into Founders.. maybe at the new Harris Teeter in Falls Church..

I got to say I'm not a huge Harris Teeter fan...

All Day IPA is good (and comes in a 15 pack) if you don't like super-high ABV IPAs. I would second that recommendation as well.
