hit up meridian pint last night.

notables include allagash avance, midnight brett, and golden brett.  midnight brett... i could drink a whole six pack of that in a sitting, it was that delightful.  also had sour in the rye, because why not.

Maine BeerCo was the subject of some unfounded hype, IMO.  they got some buzz and for a while Lunch was *the* beer to track down.  when i finally got an opportunity to try it, it didn't live up to the hype.  it was a very nice IPA, but more bitter than hoppy.  i'll give it another change, when i next get the chance, but i'm no longer hunting it down.

Different strokes....,  I prefer the bitter over the floral with my IPAs- ie  Torpedo, Enjoy By....though I agree the Maine Beer Lunch is pricey at  $15/pint bottle at Pizza Paradiso, $8.99 at total wine (when in stock) .  Hopefully my friend can pick some up for me in Maine $5.99 (I know-still pricey)- store said they're allotted six cases a week and they're gone immediately

bagley - different strokes indeed!  i consider torpedo to be on the flavorful/aromatic side (citra!), and Enjoy By is a hop-bomb to to bottom - both bitter and flavorful/aromatic.

I made a really cheese intensive, caloric intestine clogging spinach lasagna tonight, and paired it will an American style barleywine.

What beer would YOU have paired it with?

They just put a three growler limit per person for each trip through the line limit this week. It was five when i was there.

Mindblowing isn't it how long they take to fill growlers? Even at 90 minutes I'd be there were only about 10 people in front of you right?

James, what's the deal with the one case limit now at The Alchemist?

I have some friends going up there in a few weeks and I'd like to fill them in.

Sooo.. I'm going to Columbus tomorrow morning for the weekend?  Anything I should be on the lookout for?

From what I can tell, it's not a beer town at all, so I'll try and make the best of it.

Can't say that I've ever been, but I found this place that looks worthy:

or possibly here?
