I'm sure the club know enough about what they're doing to charge enough so that they make something. They have been doing this long enough and undoubtedly expected the turnout they got. If the choice was see Scratch Acid with a few people or not see them at all, I would go with the former. And maybe the club agrees.

interesting but..

I'm not sure the 930 operates like that: booking a band and paying them what you posit was a high guarantee -when no one else will- as an act of charity....

If they booked them I'd think they'd have thought it would have attracted more of a crowd..otherwise they'd have left it to someone else..

Thurs: Michael Ian Black (part of the NY comedy festival) @ Bowery! Cant wait.

And most importantly - the premiere of J Edgar at MOMA.

thinking about trying for further in c-ville.  is it just me, or is the tour now not selling all that great?

j edgar is not very good.  as far as scratch acid.  booking shows is like gambling, you do not always win.  there is a chance 930 lost $.  that might be why there seemed to be a last minute event after sa.  and sa times seemed to move up.

I don't think it's selling well at all.  This summer's Raleigh show was moved to a smaller venue just days before the show.  The State College show was canceled due to "production issues" (or something like that).  The AC show I'm going to has a couple thousand seats available - pretty much the entire upper-level.

Furthur peeps-
Just wait another month and you'll have a much better Dead related musical experience with DSO...... Do you really want to hear Phil sing Birdsong,  Eyes of the world, etc?

im a member of MOMA and seeing J Edgar for free. Not much to complain about. I take it that you saw either an advanced screening or worked on the film?
