there is a nfl thread.  there is a redskins thread.  there is a orioles thread.  there is a nats thread.  there is a nbl thread.  there is, or was a caps thread.

why, has there never been, a bullets / wizards thread, or a nba thread?

We don't have nearly enough African-Americans on this board to get that sort of thing off the ground.

Sitting in the box seats at the O's the other day I was saying that I'm surprised they haven't had more accidents and put up netting like the NHL.  I think that will happen now.

Bad form to quote oneself but nevertheless....

And so it begins....

Two weeks before pitchers and catchers report, Blue Jays finally come around to the appeal of a dirt infield.

Tyler Clippard  signs a 2 year deal with the D-Backs ($12.5m)

Josh Donaldson signs a deal to avoid arbitration.

And Delmon Young gets arrested while a free agent!

Gentlemen and Lady,  pitchers and catchers report soon!

I did not see Tyler Clippard getting 6+ per. Wanted the Tigers to take a run at him but not at that price.

The salary is actually what I expected: $4.1 million salary in 2016 and a $4.15 million for 2017.

It's the $4 million signing bonus that I don't get.

That's odd. I would've loved to pick him up at 4.

Keith Law's Farm System Rankings:

15. Washington Nationals (2015 rank 9)
Players in Top 100 (2016): 3

26. Detroit Tigers (2015 rank 30)
Players in Top 100 (2016): 1

27. Baltimore Orioles (2015 rank 22)
Players in Top 100 (2016): 2

30. Los Angeles Angels (2015 rank 27)
Players in Top 100 (2016): 0

I've been doing these rankings for eight years now, and this is by far the worst system I've ever seen. They traded their top two prospects in the Andrelton Simmons deal and had no one remotely close to top-100 status. They need a big draft this year to start to restock the system or we're going to start talking about whether it's time to trade Mike Trout.
