It's retro stylings juxtaposed with inventive haute couture materials. I love everything about it!

Hmm, I don't like all the gizmos and claptrap.  Much more preferred the plain black stylings of the old forum.  I will say though that having a search function is fantastic.  That being said, I wonder how many really old threads will be dug up and commented on now that we can easily do that?

Will totally agree on the point that the simplicity of the old forum was very attractive, however it just would have never integrated as nicely into the new website.  I've always thought PHP forums like this were overly fussy, it sure was nice to have 40 posts on a page verses what setup at the moment.  Lots of extra scrolling for less content..  I'm all for keeping the gizmos to the minimum, but would like as time goes by to add in some of the nifty extension to provide meaningful content here.  Make the forum in general a little bit more sticky...

The plan was to eliminate signatures all together, but it's not a default feature of the software.  I considered changing the amount of characters to 1, but that seemed a bit to silly.  Like many other extras signatures maybe enabled at some point...

yeah, but after several minutes of searching, i still can't find ancient.gif... :(

some of the new formating features are fun cool, but not sure how i feel about glow.

scrolling has GOT to go

this place has the potential to get really ugly.

On hfstival.com we called scrolling "parading" and would use it with images.

I completely abused the shit out of that feature. It really needs deactivated, I warn you.

I'm lost.

Love having a search function and being able to include a few extra features if we choose but I do not at all like that we lost our member numbers. (I was #609.)

Will take some time playing around here to figure out what's what. Doesn't seem like the easiest board to manuver so far.

Yeah, but usually the pictures would be larger and I'd do like 15 in a row. As you can imagine, it was a "love it or hate it" thing.

as i was telling the powers to be last night, it would only be a matter of time before the users around here starting finding the "special" features....

as far as the members list, that should be going away at some point.. it's a bit pointless to have a list of 18K available when most of them are inactive.

Just thought of something. We don't have a Buddy List anymore, do we? I loved that function. That's a very important reason to keep an active Members List.

Occasionally, I would want to PM someone who hasn't posted for awhile or maybe they've changed up their visable user name but you didn't catch on yet. (Yet another extremely good reason to display the Member Number!!!)

Would be nice to have a way of keeping track of your forum friends.

There is a buddy list feature for the forum it's just not enabled at the moment. I did consider activating it here and should be able to do so seeing as it was a feature of the old forum.

Thank you for making yesterday my most productive day at work in the history of my employment.

And to follow up with today being my least productive - impressive.

Nice work on the new curtains and carpet, lads.

EDIT: and this is annoying "Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post."

Totally agree, I had forgotten about that "feature" being included in SMF having encountered it on another forum.  Need to figure out how to disable it...

This can be fixed globally, but in the mean time you can change under it your own profile.

Profile > Look & Layout > Don't warn on new replies made while posting.

Seems to me that I saw a disable funtion in our profiles for that. Try your profile account settings or preferences. I'm considering turning it off myself.

EDIT: So here Kosmo verifies this while also showing us why we might want to keep it enabled.  ::) ;D

Nevermind.  Just saw the other discussion and must have missed the sticky.

It's OK, I was never going to call those girls when they turned 24 anyway.

the ability to reverse the order of the posts in a thread with the newest on top is interesting, however it doesn't work so well with the quick reply function.   switching the order could be good for long running threads like Just announced...

That's actually the first change I made.   Well, except for making my default time West Coast time.

With the fewer number of posts per page, I'd rather just click the name of the thread than page number 87.....

About the new site in general, nice, I like it.  It will take a bit of getting used to as all major changes do, but all told iy looks to be a pretty decent improvement.

Can I suggest one formatting change?  The current format appears to be set so that the web page width does not adjust to the browser window, which means that horizontal scroll is necessary... which is very annoying.   You might do this on pages where graphic layout is important, but on a forum it doesn't make sense.   (It could be the bar across the top that is doing this).  I think it ought not to be too hard to fix.

Otherwise, the glitziness will be hard to get used to after the years of Halloween-Goth, but nonetheless it's very nice to see an update, and modern forum software.   Nice work.

Me too. I'll be using this. I keep wanting to click "next" for the page turn, anyway.

And here I figured the board was down all these days. Had to start venturing to other, less refined boards.
I'll need some time with this.

I'm glad to see someone else complaining about this. I posted about that in the other thread, but it was mainly focused on the main page and not the forums, but I especially agree about the forums.

In the style.css file, someone needs to get rid of the "width: 930px" line in the style for the wrapper class:

Code: [Select]
#wrapper {
        margin:0 auto;
        min-height:100%;
        width:930px;
        background-color:#000000;
        padding-bottom:22px;
        position:relative;
}

and get rid of the "background-image: url(http://www.930.com/wp-content/themes/930/images/bgs/brick.jpg)" on the body tag and the "background-image: url(http://www.930.com/wp-content/themes/930/images/global/header_lights.jpg)" on the  <div id="WPheader"> tag. That should do it...

There are ways for users to override a web site's stylesheets, by the way. I'll be doing that real soon now if nobody makes any changes.
