;D
I've been looking forward to this one since the last Black Cat show ended. Who else is in?
It looks from the couple recent setlists I've found that they've been changing things up a good deal from night to night.
And no, Walkonby, they still aren't playing anything from that lame Hand it Over album.
-
kinda wish i got tix to this
-
i'll be there ;D
-
I will be there, perhaps i even have an extra since a friend from philly seems unavailable. we are talking about Saturday in Baltimore, right?
-
i would go . . . but i am boycotting all shows due to health restrictions of crowded spaces with other humans. legion is many, you know. plus the fact that i'm sure j. somehow gets the posts that i post which i hope are quietly putting him in his place for not playing the true art of what dinosaur jr. is all about. the end.

Yeah. You should sell your extra to Epstein if you have one.
-
I'm going Thursday in Richmond. Had my tickets since they went on sale for the (originally) Toad's Place show! They're playing really good setlists from what I've seen!
-
I'm down!
-
I'll be there. First show in a while where ear plugs are required...it's gonna be BRUTAL. Isn't there some type of free 7" giveaway or something?
-
Is it a physical 7" or a download?
-
From the Ottobar site:
DINOSAUR JR. and MIKE WATT and THE MISSINGMEN
For the fortunate fans who score tickets
to these select shows, you will also receive either
a limited edition tour-only 7" or a digital download code
with the purchase of a ticket.
The songs on this 7" and digital download were recorded live
during a Pitchfork.tv feature at J Mascis' own Bisquiteen Studios,
currently running on Pitchfork.tv.
The A-Side is a new track entitled "I Don't Want To Go There"
while the B-Side is a revisited classic "Tarpit"
from "You're Living All Over Me."
Is it a physical 7" or a download?

I'll be at the Richmond show.
-
Awesome show in Richmond. My ears are freaking ringing still. You guys are in for a treat in Baltimore. Mike Watt was great and loud. Overall awesome show. Got some vids too pretty much all of Dinosaur's set.
-

so lemme ask you a question, dude. when you're at a show are you like, "i could just stand here and enjoy this concert and really take it in ... but i think i should really watch the entire thing through my camera/hold my camera up the entire time because a few months from now i i'll have an urge to watch shaky, medium-quality video of most of this show, with lots of random people's heads blocking the view. after all, if i don't have shitty documentation of it, how can i prove i was there???"
-
That's why I buy the shirt.
after all, if i don't have shitty documentation of it, how can i prove i was there???
-
2nd'ed what wml7 said. Both Murph and Lou sat in on various parts of Mike Watt's set. Dino Jr was awesome, about 80 minutes. Can't give you a setlist in full but Out There, Freakscene, In A Jar, Feel The Pain, The Wagon, Sludgefeast, Just Like Heaven, Back To Your Heart, Bulbs Of Passion, You Don't Wanna Know, etc etc.

this is a topic i think of often, especially since i work at a venue and am often standing in front of the stage facing the crowd.
The band comes on and i look into the crowd to see, what seems like 70% of the crowd holding cameras and phones up just taking pics. I guess i am old. but i find it to be so strange. Its not like they are getting good close up pictures from awesome angles. I dont get it , at all. But i didnt grow up with a camera phone or a digital camera (surely you dont waste real film taking crappy pics of a concert from 30 rows back) so i guess i just dont understand. But yeah, i often think..."dude, just enjoy the damn show and get some GOOD pics off the net, taken by that guy in the front with the photo pass!"
-
I've gotten good camera phone pics before. There's a difference between taking a photo or two (especially at the beginning and then enjoying the rest of the set) and videoing much of the set, at least in my opinion.
Then again, wml's videos are pretty good and have good sound too. I enjoyed watching them, so I'm glad he took them, but it's not really my thing.

nice list....i just pray that one day, Lou and Murph will just agree to play Green Mind, Where You Been? stuff.
wait, what is You Don't Wanna Know?

or you could save your ticket stub!
-
Um, they played The Wagon and Out There...
I know what you mean though, some deep cuts off those like Start Choppin, Drawerings, Puke + Cry would own.
-
or you could save your ticket stub!
Not last night. If you bought tickets when the show was booked for Toad's Place, they had to take away your entire ticket. Even if you had a The National/Ticketmaster ticket, they took your stub if you wanted the free 7". I had the original ticket because I bought the day it went on sale, then they took it away at the door and I couldn't get the 7" and I was pissed! Way to reward those of us who bought tickets early! I know the scheduling/venue conflicts aren't the bands fault, but still.

tru. i saw Out There on your list...that seems to be the only one they're playing. I'd give J $50 to play I Live For That Look. i am too excited for tomorrow now!

your Bulbs of Passion video is labelled wrong....
its Tarpit...sorry i was watching 2 videos at once!
-
damn, now i want to go in balmer :(
-
I dont know whether they have been playing new stuff, but i found this, stuff from their new CD "Farm"
http://www.prefixmag.com/media/dinosaur-jr/i-want-you-to-know-stream/28580/
-
They played "I don't Wanna Go there" (the first cut off the 7") on the 4/14 recording I got from freesofree.net.
-

Agree with this. I'll snap a few quick pics with my grainy .7 mb camera phone if there's something memorable to capture. People who hold their phone up for 30 minutes baffle me.
-
i want to see mike watt...anyone with an extra?? :-*
-
Tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe, aren't you in Baltimore, anyway?
Come hang outside and try to find a ticket.
-
I have a ticket and I can't go. First person to PM me can have it for free. Just PM me your email address and I'll send you the PDF file ticket.
-
that was by far one of the best shows i've been to in the last two years.
-
Killer show.
A ticket was wasted on a lame friend of mine who thought they were "ok."
-
how was the show all? Was it ear shattering like in Richmond?
-
awesome show. definitely loud as fuck.
lou was cool, trying to take requests but then just turning them down cause he didnt know the songs!
just like heaven was good. i coudlnt tell whether it was on the setlist though.
-
I would've rather heard Forget the Swan or Cracked or Sludgefeast than Just like Heaven but that's just splitting hairs.
-
Wow look at 4/20 (Athens)!
01) Severed Lips
02) No Bones
03) Back To Your Heart
04) I Don't Wanna Go There
05) Tarpit
06) Out There
07) Feel The Pain
08) Kracked
09) Forget The Swan
10) The Wagon
11) Freak Scene
12) Raisans
13) E:) The Lung
14) Sludgefeast
15) Chunks
Now that's a fucking setlist!

i was yelling for FTS, but my friend who was infont of me (and 5" taller) was yelling just like heaven.
what was up with stagediver dude anyway? that wasnt you was it, azaghal?
-
No!
I was over on the bleacher-ish things the whole time.
-
I think the only improvement in the show would've been the setlist. It was pretty rad hearing a few of those songs that they haven't played yet in this area, but I was really hoping for both Sludgefest and The Lung.
Sonick, where you the guy in the Voxtrot shirt? Based on your post above, I must have been standing right next to you.

yep . . . move along, nothing to see here. yawn. like every other tour. it's ok to play the other albums j. nobody, except azag, will judge you.
-
Um, 20% of that set was from albums Lou had nothing to do with. I respect their decision to stick to material that all 3 of them had a share in creating.

There...

lou . . . who's this lou person you speak of? oh you who mean that folk hiphackster that people just assume is great because nobody buys his albums. all i was saying is that if you lose songs 1 through 4 and 8 through 15, and have j. attempt to throw out songs from the catalogue that aren't the recycled "gems" year after year after tour as if the power of lou controls him . . . it might be a more memorable show to lose one's hearing to. hell, let even sebadoh or sentridoh or lou barlow and friends or folk implosion or whatever he calls himself nowadays open up; it'll be a hoot. if bands don't play from the entire spectrum of the song list, then why bother making the songs in the first place.

that was me. :)
-
Glad to see they played Freak Scene. Always one of my faves.
-
Anyone know what that between-set house music was? Some really cool Espers-ish sounding medieval-ish folk but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Espers. The singer sounded a lot like Meg Baird, though.
-
Anyone catch Watt's set? I missed almost all of it (caught Red & Black and that last song)...any choice Minutemen cuts?
-
He covered 3 girl Rhumba. I'm not all that well-versed in the Minutemen's catalog, though.
-
AWESOME SHOW!!

I would have sold my fucking soul to hear In a Jar and Raisans. That would be like going to see Wolf Parade and not hearing I'll Believe in Anything-->Fancy Claps. Show gets 4.5 out of 5 for that.
For the record, my ears stopped ringing on Tuesday. Seriously.
Loudest concerts I've ever attended:
Tool 9/13/01
AC/DC 08/01/00
Dino Jr 05/02/09
-
Yeah, our setlist was the weakest out of the ones I've heard/seen from this tour.
Still doesn't mean it wasn't one of the better shows of the year, though.
P.S. Richmond aud recording up on FSF. Hope someone copped the Ottobar show.
