yup - as predicted here (http://www.930.com/forum/index.php?topic=19466.30):
good thing there is a second show on 12/01. i don't think demand will be that high for these shows, it's my belief that scalpers will be stuck with a lot of tickets that they won't be able to sell at a mark-up. yeah for below-face day-of tickets!!!
let's see how cheaply i can get myself in to this show...

I'll be there on 11/30. Row G!

if indeed your view is blocked: given the number of wanna-be-scalped tickets that will likely go unsold, i wouldn't be surprised if it was easy for you to scoot over to another seat that isn't obstructed.
-
ORCH*, row C, seat 7 this is the seat I got and according to the asterik this means it's obstructed

based on http://dar.org/pics/conthall/seatchrtbig.gif you should be fine - you might have some of the far left side of the stage blocked by the PA, but you should be able to see like 90% of the stage. could be loud, tho, if you're directly in front of the PA - bring earplugs.

actually, the * for row C means you get a free cat when you get there. bring catnip.

Yea, I'm entertaining the thought of paying $25 to see night 2. ;D
-
Jesus Crap, somehow I missed hearing about this show altogether.... maybe I can still go...
-
I'm in! Yay!
-
I'm in for both nights...row D on Monday, row A on Tuesday. CANNOT WAIT! The third show at the Aragon was awesome. It was hilarious to see the Pixies in the balcony at the Metro during the Peaches show too. Black Francis loved it and is a huge fan of hers.

I got my ticket from ebay for $9 so I am in for Monday show :P

does this mean you have an extra?
that you need to sell for cheap?!? ;D
-
Ummmmm...very, very possible actually, but the extra will be in box 12 or 14 I think, still a very good seat. I'm waiting to hear back from my friend that I'm going with. You need?
-
actually no - i already have plans for tonight. box 12 or 14 is indeed a great location, i'm sure someone here will snap it up should it become available.
-
Already snapped up...thanks Sweetcell ;)
-
A couple of single tickets in the first few rows (obstructed) on sale right now for tonight.

Sorry for a naiive question, but when you buy something like that on Ebay, how do you know it's for realz?
-
the seller has 98% positive ratings so i'm sure it's legit...their name sounds like a ticket broker who buys concert tickets at venues all over the US...

ya don't, yr teken yr chancez.
it helps to buy from someone who has a high feedback score, and/or has sold tickets before with no complaints, and/or offers a refund if things don't work out. i generally will only buy hard tickets on ebay - too easy to print out several copies of a ticketfast PDF ticket. i've bought tix on ebay several times, and i've never had a problem.
buying on CL is a little dicier since there's no feedback mechanism so i generally prefer meeting face-to-face to complete the transaction. that being said, i've both bought and sold tickets on CL with little more than a promise over the phone and that has also always worked out - i've always received my tickets or my money <knocks on wood>.
-
Also, if you pay by paypal on ebay, there are certain seller protections they work in. I once bought tickets to an event, and agreed to pay thru paypal and the guy said he would change the name at willcall over to mine, and while I trust he did attempt to do this, something went wonky and it didn't work. I tried working out something with the guy and he finally balked and acted like I was trying to double-dip (got the tickets and was faking to get my money back) and I put a complaint in thru paypal and they made him do mediation or they would've refunded me my money out of his account. So, there's that.
-
never had problems with e-tickets from sellers on ebay...

i can believe that - buy from reputable sellers and you're almost always good to go. come to think of it, the most expensive tickets i've ever bought on ebay were e-tickets and they turned out fine.
physical tickets add a little peace of mind, IMO, since ticket forging isn't a huge problem... yet (apparently it is an issue for UK festival bracelets: link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8368970.stm))
-
I think the moral of the story is, if you have enough money, problems take care of themselves.

I'm going tomorrow... are they letting cameras in?
-
yes cameras are allowed in got lots of video great show ;D
-
thanks for the heads up bearman . . .picked up a ticket row c on the left side this afternoon and had a great time. yes it was short, but doolittle is doolittle, the b sides had some high points (esp manta ray, wave uk surf and a killer into the white). the final encore of where is my mind, gigantic, caribou and nimrod's son ended things on a high. the band seemed loose, especially kim (!!) but the playing was tight
-
Awesome show...I'm sure many of you saw me, third row, dead center. What can I say...I have a hard time not rocking out to the Pixies. Highlight for me: I asked David Lovering what the odds are that they'd play Caribou, they played it, then he pointed at me and said "That was for you!". I'm tripping SO hardcore on that one. Got some good photos, didn't want to be a photo whore (esp. when you've got Black Francis scowling a few feet from you), but they didn't mind. I thought it was even better than Chicago. From where I was standing, the sound was VERY good. Sigh. Can't wait for tomorrow!
-

i'd like this statement to be noted in the record.
-
Great show! Band was on point all night I thought. Sound was actually decent from where I was sitting in center orchestra. I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun the band seemed to be having on stage after reading reviews of how the band seemed to be going through the motions and hating being up there. Kim Deal is the real fucking deal. She made the Breeders show earlier this year and she made this show. The 2nd encore was ridiculous. Where is my mind, Caribou and Gigantic? I thought it was a really nice gesture from the band to play 1 more song at the end, Nimrod's Son. Crowd was really into it all night. I did see lots of empty seats all over the place though. Sucks for the scalpers. :)
And lastly, why was thatguy wearing a poncho? Not a good look for him.
-
I thought the sound was fantastic. Finally got to hear "There Goes My Gun" and "Silver" and 3 out of 4 Doolittle b-sides (Manta Ray, Weird at My School, Bailey's Walk). I think those are the only songs they have not done since they reformed in 2004.
What an unreal version of Into the White... :o :o :o
Wish they played Winterlong...!
Enjoy tomorrow everyone! :-*
-
I'll be there tonight, in box area 42 looking straight on.
-
Look for the bald bearded guy in front of Joey, flipping out. That would be me ;)
-
FYI orchestra seats released
-
how was the second night? Did they play the same setlist? ;D
-
They played straight through "Doolittle" as I imagine they do everywhere... they opened with a few B-sides and threw a few more in at the end.
It didn't detract from the greatness of the performance at all, but they messed up on a couple of songs... something went wrong in "Gouge Away" near the end. "Where is my Mind" was kind of sluggish. "Number 19" was as beautiful and haunting as ever, but it seemed at one point like Kim Deal and Joey Santiago kinda lost each other. But mostly it was a powerful show played in a solid workmanlike manner.
Our seats turned out to be great. There were these two girls next to us who insisted on play-acting their way through every song, almost like a bad SNL skit, except for a point where their attention flagged and they started photographing each other instead. That annoyed the guy sitting near us so much that he went and stood in another section. I managed to keep my annoyance down by imagining them in far less clothes than they were wearing. :)

Now that's what I'm talking about ;D

I really enjoyed both nights...I'd say that the first night was slightly better, but I loved the encores of the second night as well. I still can't believe how good the sound was for that venue, and I was right up on the left side of the stage. I don't know why, but I just assumed it would be off but I could hear Kim's vocals and everything just fine. Good balance. There were a few little skirmishes as Dr. Doom pointed out, but all in all I thought they were fine. Joey did a clunker on the first night that was hilarious because he winced when he did and the rest of the band just laughed at him. The highlight for me last night was Black Francis and David Lovering smiling at me, pointing and coming over to shake my hand. The geeky 15-year-old in me was totally freaking out. Got to say a quick hi to David and Kim on the way out too.
-
Went back last night . . .like flipping the cassette for another listen back in the day I guess. Another great show. I thought they maybe started sharper, but agree there were some off moments along the way. The Pixies are synonomous with Loud-Quiet-Loud but I think its more accurately Take Off - In Flight - Landing - Take Off - In Flight - Landing (except when its more like Paddle-Paddle-Surf). No. 13 Baby on night one was a smoother flight, but some were better last night. I don't think I ever listened to Silver all the way through before, always fast forwarded, but I enjoyed it live. Followed by Gouge Away, a perfect ending.
The last encore was pretty rocking with Vamos, Isla De Encanta, Broken Face and Something About You then the heavy hitters Where is My Mind (with particularly hypnotic ending) and Gigantic.
-
No BONE MACHINE either night! (Based on tour's setlists, it seemed we woulda gotten that one.)
-
I thought the Pixies were fantastic, but I think Mew nearly equalled them despite only playing 45 minutes (I may be alone in this opinion, I know). The fact that they started at 7:43 was a little odd, since the place was largely empty, but they absolutely rocked it with a hit-filled set. When I saw them at the Black Cat a few years ago I thought that they would be better suited for a larger venue and I was definitely right. The sound was huge and the lights were fantastic. Singer Jonas Bjerre was sitting right behind me during the Pixies set (he's a HUGE fan), and was extremely gracious when I told him how incredible their set was.

I think Mew nearly equalled them ... was extremely gracious when I told him how incredible their set was.
I think he was probably extremely gracious because deep down he knew how much his band sucked... I try to be sympathetic to opening bands, I know it's not an easy position to be in, but Mew was a band with absolutely nothing interesting to offer the world. They weren't actively bad, just a total snooze fest. Sorry to be harsh but to equate them with the Pixies is crazy.
