Title: Baby news!
Post by: nkotb on February 27, 2010, 03:58:57 pm
For those of you that care, my wife and I welcomed our first child on Monday, February 22nd at 7:42 am.  The little guy is named Desmond Donald*, and clocked in at 8lbs. 4oz., much to my wife's dismay.  He and mom are doing great, though.  We've been home for a few days now, and the kid's a dream.  I'm still getting 6 hours of sleep a night, not counting naps and whatnot.  I'd post pictures, but I've been too busy to actually take them off the camera.  Suffice to say, he's the most perfect kid in the world**.

* He was named after his grandfather, who unfortunately succumbed to Parkinson's a few years back and didn't get to meet the little guy.  Still, he was born only a day after granddad's birthday and eats every two hours, just like his namesake :)  Plus, his initials are Dee Dee, and there's nothing wrong with that.

** This is according to an impartial panel consisting of his mom, dad and grandparents, thus making it irrefutable :)

Weird. Only about an hour ago I was wondering about what was going on with your baby. Was going to make a post to ask but decided not to since I knew that you would be busy and that you'd let us know in your own good time.

Congratulations all around!!!

Hope the wife/mother is getting that 6+ hours of sleep too!

You've got your own little NKOTB now. You'll need to change your screen name to OKOTB  ;)

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone!

GGW, now KISS onesies yet, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't look into buying these:

Congratulations to Mrs. NKOTB, Desmond, and Dad. Let the fun begin!

Two thumbs up on the name Desmond! Did watching Lost subliminally have an effect on the choice? Though personally, I would have loved it if you chose "Bobby".

And I urge you to forego all af that corporate baby wear, and instead buy some t-shirts and an iron on kit and make your own baby rock wear. My daughter's homemade Smiths' Meat is Murder t-shirt was the hit of V-Fest last year, imo.

Congratulations
And kid-dressing is an underrated pleasure. You can really start his personality on the right foot with some well-chosen outfits.
Having kids is so fun. Can't wait for my vasectomy next week!

The mmmm-boobies onesie is especially funny when sitting next to mid-30s bitter divorcees in sonoma.  vansmack can attest to that.

this was always a fun shirt to put on my baby girl for day care:

she turns 1 on the 15th. . .time flies NKOTB. . .

A friend got us a very cool Devo onesie that he found at the recent 930 Club concert...

More bands should sell onesies!

Congrats NKOTB!

And on the topic of onesies - the dandy warhols has some on their site.

We never found onesies to be very practical. At that age they're going through so many diapers, it's easier to just have them wear shorts or pants.
