Title: HFStival 2010
Post by: Davyboy on April 09, 2010, 10:24:14 am
Will it happen? seems so, which I am seriously thrilled about as far as prospects go. When and who will Play? Let the speculation begin...

One must ask him/herself who HFS would be playing now if they were still around.

The pessimist in me says Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance and 3 oh!3 would be prominent in their rotation and therefore, would fill the headliner slots.

Where have you seen any evidence that there would be an hfstival this year?

Where have you seen any evidence that there would be an hfstival this year?

hfs2 hd and Thefan 106.7 the fan have been running online streaming promos hinting at a big return with something HFS related with concert sounds in the background etc for the last week or so, and Chad Dukes, a one time HFS DJ and intern has also hinted on his twitter and his facebook that HFS2 HD has 'something really big planned' in the last week.

Lastly, if you go to the HFS2 facebook page and click on the one video they have, it pretty much says and shows you everything pointing to HFStival returning.

Well that would certainly be something. Especially with Virgin Fest not what it used to be anymore.

I happen to really like virgin fest 2.0, but apparently my opinion won't  count because I'm a festival-hater

If Lollapalooza is the Walmart of music festivals, what does that make HFStival?

Only lineup, time, place, and price of tickets will tell.

You mean overpriced and shade-free?

For the record I'm more of a festival-douter, as in I doubt I'll ever attend a festival held in a large field in the middle of the summer, especially if it's out of town

you don't like improvement?  the move from pimlico to MPP alone made an average festival into something interesting.

I happen to really like virgin fest 2.0, but apparently my opinion won't  count because I'm a festival-hater

a hater that hates = predictable.
a hater who likes = interesting, potentially insightful.

Especially with Virgin Fest not what it used to be anymore.

bingo.

well on their FB page they posted this:

new music just added from:

American Bang, Black Keys, Deftones, Five Finger Death Punch, Kottonmouth Kings, LCD Soundsystem, Orianthi and The Dead Weather.

so.....i would take a headlining spot from LCD!

Also going from Foo Fighters, The Who, and Red Hot Chili Peppers to Blink-182 and Weezer. It's still enjoyable but its not going to attract the top acts anymore.

Beats the shit out of FreeFest 2009.

American Bang, Black Keys, Deftones, Five Finger Death Punch, Kottonmouth Kings, LCD Soundsystem, Orianthi and The Dead Weather.

that lineup has exactly one act that would make me go, and another that is pretty good although i don't need to see them again... i.e., i'm definitely not at this festival.

only in the alternate universe that is JA.  freefest had franz ferdinand - they alone beat that abortion of a lineup that kosmo proposed.

Yeah because my liking of The Who and the Foo Fighters totally implies I view those 4 as acceptable headliners

My point is that festival are most often comprised of artists already on tour or specifically doing festival dates and these are examples of "top acts" on tour, whether or not you think they are acceptable.  IMHO it's pretty grime out there in terms of what's currently on tour.

I mean, yeah, that sucks...but I couldnt' think of a more perfect line-up for an HFStival.  Unless you add Papa Roach.

i was at that hfstival, at m&t bank stadium, and thought that his set was a riot.  i'm definitely interested in what the rest of the lineup will look like.  hopefully no everclear and papa roach.

I agree. Billy Idol at M&T was great and would not have a problem seeing him at any venue. Marcy Playground though? have they had more than one hit? Keeping fingers crossed for a decent lineup.

You didn't know? A Gordie Howe hat-trick has long been defined as "a goal, an assist, and playing shitty reggae music while burning chron."

Well, I can tell you that it won't be Lush since Emma Anderson has been too busy with tending to her baby; however, I'll put a quarter on one of the bands being Hole since some kind of info passed my eyes about Courtney Love doing something about getting them in shape again. Have no idea where I read that (may have even have been on this board) but seems there's new life their way.

It's HFStival. A has-been radio station. That played a bunch of crap from the 90s. I don't know how/why DC101 is still around. I hate people SO much. Give me a college radio station or something PLEASE!

Or maybe a goal, an assist, and playing primitive early 60's stomping rock and roll?  Or is that a goal, a fight...

Sorry, wrong Wailers.

the best thing about the HFStival was the rain mist tent.  If you timed it right you'd dive into the middle of a horde of giggling, bikini-topped women alll soaking wet and rubbing all over you.  Good times.  Some good bands too, especially the year when Iggy played, and Velocity Girl, and Blondie, and Kula Shaker, and Jamiroquai, and the Stereo MCs...   but even back then, HFS already had been sucking for years.
