Hi Guys! Oh, how I've missed you all. I hope your Merriweather season was nice.
Wanted to let you know that we're looking for a new shirt design. And we'll give you cash if you win!
I'd love if some of our beloved boardies could enter...

How much would a design firm charge for this work? More or less than the value of the prize?
And there are sweet prizes involved!
- $200 Cash + the licensing fee
- Up to $200 in concert tickets (Subject to show availability)
- A T-shirt featuring your winning design
- Your art representing the fastest-growing independent ticketing and social marketing platform out there!
-
for those who are interested, specs are here (took me a minute to find this page... not well linked)

Vegas puts an even money line on El Jefe as the boardie to beat.
Sadly, I was 1000-1.
-
Wouldn't he just copy the Ticketmaster t-shirt I see everyone wearing around town?

wow . . . and here i have been waiting for a demeaning comment about ticketfly as a company wrapped all up nice into some sort of killer idea for a t-shirt idea. and then some rock star could wear it and change the way some people think. cool. but i didn't get that in this thread.

I feel the same sense of disappointment

Well...I refrained from saying 3 out of 4 ain't bad. (I expected someone else to say something too!)

Doesn't El Jefe do this kind of work professionally? Giving away free work for the small chance of receiving a nominal prize doesn't seem like a good business model.
Businesses turning to crowdsourcing for services they should pay for is demeaning.

i disagree with james and hoya. no one is making your participate. it might be a break for someone who otherwise has no way of breaking in to that market and gain exposure.
there are a lot of advantages for the company involved (i.e. marketing), no reason why they can't save money in the process. if they wanted to pay a professional's rate... they would have hired a professional.
-
that t-shirt is hilarious...it's so funny i'd love to see it for real
-
Relaxer, why did it take you almost a decade to come out of your shell? All those potential great wise cracks gone to waste.
-
breaking in to that market and gain exposure.
Is there even a single example out there of an artist making it this way?
-
THIS IS AMAZING

Oh, and yes we could have gone with a design firm or something but we wanted it to come from the community! We like our customers. Even you guys. :-)

^ Suspect it's to offer a variety of concerts but only Relaxer can answer that one.
That's it, Amy. You guys should just call an end to the contest now and use his basic idea, even if it means that you might have to adjust a few things due to copyright issues. Maybe use some hipster posseur for a photo if you need to along with a made up name and song title. Then all you need to do is tastefully add a small website link somewhere on the bottom.

^ I said 'a hipster' posseur. LOL.
But that would do too.
To get past the copyrighting, maybe use a photo of Relaxer dressed up as a hipster posseur. It's almost Halloween, Relaxer. Get your hipster posseur costume a crackin'! ;D

Keep the ideas comin. This is great stuff and you're giving it all up for free.

We trust that you will continue to remember us down the road, like you did for Free Fest. ;)
Of course, send those publicized goodies to Relaxer... assuming you use his basic idea.

How could I forget you guys?
