Title: Best show on TV.
Post by: grateful tagle zuppi pizzaboli on January 12, 2012, 05:09:40 pm
Shameless.

Well, really any show where William H Macy gets pegged by Joan Cusak on a regular basis would do.  Oh, and Fiona?  I've never felt more like a dirty old man.  shit.

Emmy Rossum is 25.  Totally legal...

And I forgot to mention that Adam Duritz has already been there.  That bastard has an amazing track record....

Although, NOW one is significantly more famous than the other (thanks, Batman!) but I used to get Emily Rossum and Anne Hathaway confused:

The first season of the UK Shameless is a classic and well worth seeking out. While season one of the US version sputtered along using the same story line of the UK version, but by the end it had finally started going off in a different direction and in the process gotten much darker than the UK version.  I believe that William H. Macy is about the only American actor that could do justice to the Frank Gallagher character, but it took most of the season to finally make it his own.

I also really dig the NBC comedies; the Office, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, and SNL.
As for current dramas; Breaking Bad, Bones, and Homeland.

Good show, but don't tell my UK friends - apparently the actor that plays the William H. Macy character is something of a treasure. They will crush you if you say anything about the US version. ;)

The first episode of the series aired on Showtime on 9 January 2011.

According to Wiki. I could have swong they did the onslaught of promo as "A new series" as opposed to "a new season". I missed it though, I wanted to see it. I'm a fan of Kristen Bell.

Kristen Bell is in House of Lies, not Shameless.  Only the 1st episode of House of Lies has aired.   Shameless is in season 2.

And Portlandia is funny.

I think you are confusing "House of Lies" (which just premiered, consultants, Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, one episode) with "Shameless" (just started second season, Emily Rossum, William H. Macy, family with one drunk father.)

How the fuck did I confuse those? I feel like I've been totally misinformed. Maybe it was being advertised aas "Followed by an all new Shameless"

Is it Shamless or house of Lies that has the $ signs in the name?

Don't feel bad.  I kept getting "House of Lies" confused with that gambling series by David Mamet with Dustin Hoffman.  I thought it was "House of Cards?"  Turns out it's called "Luck" and it's Michael Mann.   I think there's a David Mamet FILM called "House of Cards."

Wow you presume to know much about me based on nothing at all.  I have no issues with anyone based on anything other than the specific individual.  In fact I don't 'have a problem' with anyone.  Neither a person's height, weight, hair color, shoe size, nationality, gender, favorite food, nor sexual preference has a thing to do with whether I choose to associate with someone on any level.

I watched 2 new shows over the weekend.

Napoleon Dynamite the animated show....I had very low expectations for this.  What a piece of crap.  Some of the worst tv ever.  10 min was all I could take.

Alcatraz - I watched this cuz a guy I was friends with in HS has a pretty decent role in this.  Not that great.  If he were not on it I'm pretty sure I'd never watch it again.

I started to watch Alcatraz as well, but after a few minutes I just couldn't get into it and switched to something else.

I accidentally saw Napoleon Dynamite, was indifferent to it. Probably won't watch another episode.

the whole idea of this show seems so sad ... heder couldn't do anything with his career and now is forced to reprise the only role that anyone ever paid notice to ... the Fox tie-in with him "spotted" in the crowd at lambeau just added to the patheticness

I will never watch a Lost type show again.  Way to reel us in with awesome mystery for 5 seasons and then completely jump shark for the last one. An f'ing CORK?  Please.

I just pretend the series ended with the bomb.

No, not either of them.  The guy that was the first prisoner criminal dude, the one that killed the warden when he got out.
