Would like to see this as well.

Thought about stopping by Sound Garden for the Clutch in-store but I doubt I'll get up there.  Nothing on the list this year that I've absolutely gotta have.

I won't be buying anything as I believe the only store that has all the products is Soundgarden and they had a 2 hour line last year.  I would buy the Orange Juice albums if it were easier to shop.  Record Store Day has become the day to avoid record stores.

Domino will probably have the Orange Juice albums available from their online store.

I would love to go to that Clutch thing too but probably won't make it...Anyway, I have mostly classic rock, soul and good jazz things. I'll link my craigslist ad.

Some good ones on that list. Personally, I would love to get my hands on The Fauns record but international releases have just gotten too damned expensive for me. The Clint Mansell remix of "Fragile" (https://vimeo.com/63605592) is incredible.

While I was searching for it, I ran across this Amazon Marketplace copy of their original CD. Sure makes the RSD vinyl look dirt cheap in comparison! Glad I bought my copy when it was released. This is insane!!!!   :o :o :o :o :o

Ha ha what?  I already have that one as well.  I cant imagine it going for anything close to that. (I cant remember if I have the cd, or digital only, but i would definitely put mine up for $200, A STEAL). Anyways, if Joe talks me into going to RSD, I will definitely grab you one if they have them, and bring it up when I take that beach vacation I was telling you about.

I thought it was strange Antoni Maiovvi was on RSD.  I know him from another music forum.  Small world.

I decided to sleep in, and see what was left around 11:30.  I was able to get my number two choice (behind Double Dagger which had quickly sold out this morning) at Trax on Wax in Catonsville.  Their exclusive selection was down to about twenty titles.

I swore off RSD, but caved in again.
I started at CD Cellar in Falls Church, about 25th back in the line. It was a bit manic when they opened and just let everyone in, but I managed to get:
Shuggie
P.i.l.
Nick Drake
Sly
Cal Tjader
The staff there is always friendly and chill (Arlington too).
I really wanted that Fela lp, so I headed over to Blue Groove Soundz - they had it, but most items were not priced and no browsing. It was only when you finally got to the register did you get the price - $26 for the Bowie single and $19 for the Nick Cave single!  I slunked out of there with the Fela, but that will be my last visit to that place.

Wait a minute. you're standing in line, 25 deep arly on a Saturday morning, to pay $26 for a Bowie single that is released in 2013?

No offense, but can I ask....why?

Of course, you might ask why someone would pay $26 for a four pack of this...

I'm pretty sure the Bowie was only 7.99 @ cd cellar before they ran out, because that's what I paid for the p.i.l. single and seemed to be the price for all of their 45's.
Blue Grooves was selling the actual Bowie "The Next Day" vinyl lp for maybe 4 dollars more than the single, so there go figure.
It's ok, I'll live.
Now, that 4 pack is totally reasonable and would have gone nicely with my listening today.
Anyone get the "mystery release" single?

Love the Arlington CD Cellar. It also serves as a great concert venue. A few members of a couple of the better local bands (IMO) (Foul Swoops and Cigarette) work there.

I often shop at Blue Groovz, but they are very expensive.  I usually wait until they do 20% or more sale before I will consider walking in the door.  They have good hip hop, jazz and soul there, at least the best I have seen in the area.  Their record store day prices are crazy, but everyone seems to be.  The White Stripes Elephant was $80 at CD Cellar.  Sheesh!

I'd be willing to say Blind Melon is one of the best bands of 90's. Their one hit was both a blessing and a curse, but I bet most people haven't even heard their other releases which are damn near perfect albums.

Their self-titled album will always hold a special place in my heart.  Heard about them about 6 months before No Rain hit the radio.  Their other releases are also wonderful.  Totally agree they're one of the best.

I can't imagine Double Dagger has a very big fan base.

Anyway I believe that most people buying Record Store Day releases aren't even listening to them.  I bet most people just buy it to collect it.  With the misguided thought that the stuff will be worth something in 30 years.  I find collecting things to collect them to be the worst human quality.

Atomic, you are NEVER helpful.

Of course Double Dagger has a fanbase.  Especially in baltimore.  That is why most stores were sold out.  Maybe Jimmy at Sound Garden was able to get extra copies because he knows the band.  Who knows?  Anyways I am SO happy I got one.

And if they have little fanbase like you state, why then are they the front page story of City Paper this week? http://citypaper.com/news/issue-17-the-retirement-of-double-dagger-1.1477988

or why did BOTH of the Best Releases lists that were posted on here, feature Double Dagger?
http://pitchfork.com/news/50371-the-top-45-releases-of-record-store-day-2013/
and
http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2013/04/19/177927433/12-reasons-to-visit-your-local-record-store-day-on-saturday?sc=fb&cc=fmp

And collecting things is the "worst human quality"?  Not hate, or anger, or rape, or fear, or killing people for fun or any of a million things?

Wow... I just realized i wasted my time answering a post of yours.  I try to not do that.  My bad.

Atomic, you are NEVER helpful.

Of course Double Dagger has a fanbase.  Especially in baltimore.  That is why most stores were sold out.  Maybe Jimmy at Sound Garden was able to get extra copies because he knows the band.  Who knows?  Anyways I am SO happy I got one.

And if they have little fanbase like you state, why then are they the front page story of City Paper this week? http://citypaper.com/news/issue-17-the-retirement-of-double-dagger-1.1477988

or why did BOTH of the Best Releases lists that were posted on here, feature Double Dagger?
http://pitchfork.com/news/50371-the-top-45-releases-of-record-store-day-2013/
and
http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2013/04/19/177927433/12-reasons-to-visit-your-local-record-store-day-on-saturday?sc=fb&cc=fmp

And collecting things is the "worst human quality"?  Not hate, or anger, or rape, or fear, or killing people for fun or any of a million things?

Wow... I just realized i wasted my time answering a post of yours.  I try to not do that.  My bad.

When does size of fanbase have anything to do with who appears on the cover of the city paper.   Beach House didn't even make their top 10 end of year list of local music when they released "Teen Dream".   Nevermind that was on most lists of best albums in the world by almost all serious publications.  Somone at the City Paper likes Double Dagger.  That doesn't make them popular.

Double Dagger isn't that popular.  Even in Baltimore.  Maybe most stores didn't even bother to get copies.  What other stores were even participating in record store day in baltimore?  I went to true vine last year on record store day and they had like 2 different releases.

blah blah blah keep listening to your boring ass Beach House garbage  ::)

oops i did it again and answered one of your posts.  Never again.  MUST ignore.

Yeah a band like Double Dagger playing a boring style of music that died in 1983 is much more entertaining.  Worse band in Baltimore ever.

Which band is playing the Lyric on Friday Night?  And which band broke up and no one gave a shit about?

Anyone know where I can find a copy of "Amusement" by Husker Du?

I saw a few copies of that at Ka-Chunk in Annapolis on Sunday. Not sure if they're still there, but give them a call. Staff is really friendly.

Jesse now has the inside track on being Forumite of the week.

Atomic, I dont care what you listen to, or if you think bands I like are good. I was just messing around with you.

I do recommend reading that City Paper article to anyone even remotely interested in the Baltimore art and music scene.

Beach House didn't make the cover of the City Paper because they are terrible.

I read that last night. Great piece. The stuff about bands being thrust into the public eye before they are ready is so dead on.

but people like atomicfront won't know the difference, so why not grab the spotlight sooner rather than later?  you can work out your stage presence at some later point.

I know the difference between great stage presence and none.  It has nothing to do with how long you have been around.  Scissor Sister had it from day one. Lou Reed still doesn't have it.

Of Monsters and Men awesome stage presence.  New Order none.

Beach House is a nice band, I have one of their records and like it fine.  But best band in the world?  Are you actually serious?

Yeah right now they are the best band in the world, IMHO.  Two masterepiece albums in a row.  Who would you rate as the best band in the world?  Maybe you should start a new thread on the subject as this has nothing to do with record store day.

How is a single photo going to show whether someone has stage presence or not.  Go to their show and then you can report back.  Arcade Fire had great stage presence from day one.  Thinking that somehow experience makes you become star worthy.  Where would child actors come from if this were true?

And so everyone could be Brad Pitt if they spent enough time practicing.

Well I will give you that.  When someone isn't even facing the crowd and has their eyes closed that does show a lack of stage presence.

An FTM that large is bound to have stage presence. As in taking up quite a bit of it.
