Good move. A flare out of Phil collins news threatened to flood every thread.

Let us never forget the good threads that died when the levees broke during Hurricane Ace Freeley. . .

I'm really surprised he's branching out. I mean, his guitar work on "Pour Some Sugar On Me" is virtually unmatched in the genre, but I doubt he can carry a whole arena tour on his own.

I lurked on here for the longest time.  My first post was some sort of lame joke involving Phil Collins.  It's coming full circle now.

I don't remember, but it's fun searching 'Phil Collins' and noting the different thread titles.

Your first post was this:

Cats in the Cradle is a Harry Chapin tune.  It's depressing enough without knowing the fact that Harry was later killed in an auto accident.

Where in the f*** did I just read that Phil Collins told a funny story about him getting s*** on by Paul McCartney when he asked him for an autograph. Howard Stern tells a similar story about how Paul f***** him over on an autograph too.

Not to derail this very important thread, but we used to listen to this album all the time at Halloween.

Dead Man's Bones is a rock duo consisting of actor Ryan Gosling and his friend Zach Shields. Their first album, Dead Man's Bones, was released on 6 October 2009 through ANTI- Records. The entire album is a collaboration with the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir ?started by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea? from Los Angeles, California. Gosling performs under the alias "Baby Goose".

When Shields and Gosling met in 2005 they discovered a mutual obsession with the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland and decided to write love stories about ghosts and monsters. The pair chose to play all the instruments on the record, even those they had never touched before. They also imposed rules on themselves during the recording process, such as not playing with a click track, and trying to do no more than three takes on any song, letting any imperfections highlight the strengths of the music.

of course Phil's "in the air tonight" is also kind of spooky.. could probably make an entire album of spooky songs with Phil singing.....

the weird thing is if Phil came to the US and concensus was he was sounding decent I might go check him out...

just read this inter, esting article about phil Collins, the song, against all odds, and the academy awards performance of it, not by him.

poor, guy.
was curious about the AA thing and found an article about it at the time
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/phil-collins-beats-the-odds-19850523

long article, but some pretty interesting stuff, makes me think might be an interesting biography

he played uncredited on all things must pass as a 19 year old prior to joining Genesis
Harrison acknowledged Collins's contribution in the remastered edition released in 2000

this made me chuckle:one of his favorite stories is about how former Clash drummer Topper Headon came to see him after a concert, looked to make sure no one was around, shook his hand and said, "Phil Collins, man, I'm a great fan of yours."

also He was an extra in the the Beatles' film A Hard Day's Night and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

And then Phil replied, "I see little Topper is a Genesis fan."

I wonder how much the Trump campaign is billing for lawyers and having the doners or the taxpayers foot the bill

Dude...how did we not know about this!

Phil Collins (Prohibition Party, Independent) ran for election for President of the United States in 2020.
He got 4,834 votes!

I think it's odd that he ran with the Prohibition party, but we're all about 2nd chances here in America!

I do find it funny that I can't even get to the site as my corporate web filter thinks its bad stuff (he couldn't even pay for a domain)

Alright guys...let's knock this out.  Starting with "C"...go!

Umm...Conservative? Christian? Conservative Christian?

Nah...too predictable. Let's go Concerned...sign of the times, amirite?  OK, "O".  Anybody? [crickets] Anybody? [crickets].  Hmm let's skip it for now.

On to "L".  This will be easy. "L" Anybody? Ideas? Come on guys, we're just spitballing here...what's the first word that comes into your head?

Ooooh how about "Liberal"?

[crickets]

Hoooookay.  Umm, what about the second "L"?  Ahhh right. Hmm.

So the "I"...you know what, lets just do "I" and "N" together.

Ooh!  I got it!  "In"!

Alright guys...we're just gonna skip to the "S".  Any ideas for the "S"?  "Sssssssss"

Gah!  WTF...just send it to print!

Only think that is odd...is this is Phil's twitter feed, why would he need to say who sung 'in the air tonight'

in related news...they are getting (part of) the band back together
(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ElU-lxVWMAEcV_2?format=jpg&name=4096x4096)
Phil, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford have reunited in London and started rehearsals for the forthcoming Genesis 'The Last Domino?' Tour which starts in April.

Ok Genesis getting together is really old news..they had a whole tour lined up before covid

It sucks that Phil’s health is so poor

I remember after Phil last played DC being at Irish times and a couple who had been at show walked in and they said Phil was in real bad shape.. couldn’t even stand..forget drumming

I love Phil but I feel bad for the guy.. he deserves better than spending the last twenty years a broken shell and being taken advantage of by his wife...very sad

Possibly the crustiest news ever

Phil not being able to play drums has been the case for years

He doesn’t even stand up while he sings!

People still want to see him live….I think it might depress me a bit
