I agree; I got in a big email argument over the Smiths, and the disparager felt so strongly because he thinks the Smiths have been SO overrated.  Hence, rather than not giving them a second thought, he was a bit more proactive in not liking them.  Poor schmo....     :D

yeah us and all the people who bought tickets to their sold out show at the bowery ballroom april 24th [/b]
you know what. . just ignore barcelona, he doesn't offer anything substantial to most of the discussions on this board anyway. [/b]
i put the 'here at least' on there because i've never so much hipster backlash against bob & co as i have here. i mean, i can see the reluctance to embrace the audiofarts (which, gross as it sounds is half the fun), but the catch songs usually get positive responses.

It's all in the lyrics, he's a genius of a songwriter with typical English wit and sarcasm, which has probably been a part of the reason why they don't hit the bigtime this side of the Atlantic like at home....most doodles just won't get the point of the songs, which is understandable. [/qb]
What do you think about Housemartins?

I think Mankies on the record as loving The Housemartins - useless piece of trivia - London 0 - Hull 4 was the first album I ever bought - at the Virgin Megastore in Dublin on a school trip

I think it might have been brought up earlier, but Oasis. (One of my favorites).

The record is indeed correct.  :)

I personally prefer The people who grinned themselves to death over London 0 - Hull 4.

I wonder how many younger board members know who Fatboy Slim is?

I'm 36, and from this board I've learned that Fatboy Slim is a dj who charges $40 so you can hear him spin records.

He was also in the Housemartins, a good band from the 80's who sound really, really dated these days.

36 years old is NOT younger Rhett!

But thanks for spoiling the quiz though.

i see your Fatboy Slim and raise you Pizzaman, Mighty Dub Kats, Beats International, Freakpower, and i'm sure there are others.  I could spin a whole evening of Norman Cook related projects and remixes.
