wow-- i'm surprised at the reactions.  i haven't seen it yet, personally.  but a friend of mine from back in WI who never registered to vote, never voted, and refuses to talk about politics called me Sat AM... she had seen the film, registered to vote with a volunteer standing outside the theatre afterword, and called me to say she couldn't believe what this prez is getting away with.

I saw the movie yesterday at the AFI. There was a long line and the theatre was packed. I think just about every demographic was represented.
 
 While there weren't any protestors, there were some folks from the Kerry campaign outside looking to register folks.
 
 Though the film is basically preaching to the choir, it was really good. Moore isn't physically in the film as much as he was in Columbine. He definitely did his homework on finding out a lot of information to compile the documentary. Within the span of 2 hours, I laughed, cried, clapped and was angry. Just a head's up, the film does include some graphic scenes from Iraq, including the charred bodies of the contractors killed in Fallujah and other deaths.
 
 The Silver Spring/Takoma Park area is pretty Democratic/left-leaning, so when a soldier injured in Iraq who was recovering at Walter Reed said he was going to do everything he could to support the Dems, people clapped and cheered.
 
 I'm not sure if the film will change the minds of people sitting on the fence about the November election, but it may strengthen the resolve of those who have already made up their minds.
 
 What's even more surprising are the box office figures so far...it's showing on 868 screens nationwide and made $8million on Friday alone.

If only it would make that much of an impact on the direction of this country which is going to Hell in a handbasket with what BOTH parties are doing to us! I so wish that the Dems would be the saviours that they so want us to believe that they are. From my view of history, they have only screwed us up just as badly. So much of this is such a fucking game to both parties! A game of who will win and take control rather than getting in and doing something good for all of America. Either way, Hitler, I mean Bush, scares the shit out of me!!!

the fact that people from both parties have said that he blatanly uses false info in this movie to drive home his point makes me wonder why people will go and see this film and regard it as truth.  moore is good at what he does...he's such a good spin artist that i can see why people, after seeing this film, come out with such a negative opinion of Bush.  if anyone made a film being such a critic of any president im sure people would come out thinking they were horrible ...

I'm not sure who you've talked to, but most people I know who have seen the film are viewing it as just that...a film. If anything, this film will open a public dialogue on all of our elected officials.
 
 Not only is Bush painted in a bad light, but so are most of the politicians in Washington. Moore is pretty adamant that the film is meant to expose both the Republicans and the Democrats. The president doesn't have absolute authority to wage attacks on countries, he had some assistance in that (i.e. Congress).
 
 He takes the U.S. mainstream media outlets to task as well for the lack of reporting on some of the items noted in the film--like the Taliban leaders visiting Texas in early 2001.

Go to the Crown theatres in Annapolis Mall. It might be your only shot (or wait for it to open in Wilmington, if it does - I'm sure the Pentagon won't allow it in Dover!). But go early; Annapolis is fairly conservative and the showing I saw sold out.

 -3 uniformed police officers present (to keep the peace)
 -2 mom types ran out crying (brief gory scenes)
 -i cried twice (not for the gory sh*t, though)

this country is in the midst of a crisis without historical precedence.
 
 this film presents facts that have been legally documented  (otherwise moore would be liable for slander) , along w/ moore's personal parody of bush, jr via his silliest news excerpts. he unquestionably makes fun of bush's learning disorders & speech pathologies - OK to classify this portion of the film as democratic rhetoric.
 
 but one simply cannot deny the facts presented. to do so would be politically irresponsible, wreckless & ignorant.
 
 i was stranded in france during 9/11 and was prohibited from re-entering the usa for 7 days, so i don't know where you got the 9/14 date from.
 
 i'm not for one side or the other- but the manner in which right wingers are working feverishly to keep this film from being seen - REALLY made me wanna see it.

Today is the nationwide premiere of Michael Moore's new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" â?? an analysis of how the president misled the country to war in Iraq and how the Bush-Saudi relationship has compromised America's national security. Even before the movie was public, the White House and its right-wing allies sought to smear both the film and Moore personally. Last month, White House communications director Dan Bartlett said the movie "was so outrageously false it's not even worth comment," even though he had not yet seen the film. Meanwhile, the Hollywood Reporter discovered that "big-time conservative donors" are funding a slew of anti-Moore activities. Following the White House's tactic of attacking critics' patriotism, the right-wing is also apparently bankrolling a movie called "Michael Moore Hates America." But despite conservatives' best efforts to discredit the film, the NY Times notes, "central assertions of fact in 'Fahrenheit 9/11' are supported by the public record." When the movie was aired at the Cannes Film Festival, it won top prize from a panel made up of mostly American and British judges.
