Constructive debates are for work, school, and talk amongst friends.

Message board brawls is what this board is all about. Unfortunately, most of the people here all like the same stuff, so it gets pretty boring.

 oh, and, by the way?
 this thread has gotten ridiculous.

is everybody EVER going to agree on the same bands, the same genres, the same shows, 100%?
 no.  we aren't.

we ARE here to discuss music and shows and whatever the hell else we feel like discussing, but we aren't all always going to agree.
 we're only human.

so please, stop picking fights on the interweb and get along.
there is a fine line between a constructive debate, and a message board brawl.

 anyone had a similar experience?

of COURSE i have had a similar experience.
i'm in high school, for chrissake.
99% of the people they surround me with daily have NO CLUE.

quite a few people won't even discuss music with me, for fear of getting shot down.
but when they do, it's like...LAUGH-O-RAMA.

in the last six months, especially, you have no idea how many times i've gotten the
"omigod, have you heard of like...The Postal Service?  they are on the Garden State soundtrack, and they are like, sooooo good!!!111one.  i thought you might, like, know who they are because you like, know everything about music, and, omigod i love that song Such Great Heights.  it's sooooo, like,  mellow.  omigod!  now we have something in common!!!!11eleven"

"yeah man, i really want to hear the new mudvayne cd"

The people at my wife's work, including the 40something company president, are trying to get her to read Harry Potter books.

That's why it was odd that they would suggest it to Rhett's wife.

And people at my office ask me if I've seen the Star Wars movie. Why would I want to see such mainstream crap? Next they'll be asking me if I've bought the latest Dave Matthews album.

I always think it's hilarious when elitist music fans on this board start talking about the latest blockbuster movies out of Hollywood.

Yes, nod, mumble fake agreeance, walk away.
I get free stuff sometimes and pass along to Kosmo. Then he has a vast amount of music for any type of show. ;)
One doc appt. I had, they picked the music [for me]. I told them it was rather loud. They said, "What? You don't like John Mayer??? What would you prefer?"  I said, "Quiet."
They looked like a bunch of hurt puppies.
Talk about stereotyping. They took one look at me and thought I'd like to hear Mayer while going through a medical procedure?
If there ever is a need, or next time, I'm bringing in my own Kosmomix.
