not as up on local bands i as i could be, but
 
  The Bonapartes are causing a bit of a stir in town  these days.
 
 A couple Baltimore bands I've been blathering about recently are possible choices,  Gavin Elder and  The Pale Stars .
 
 And if there where the musician wanted ad that read "Guitarist raised on a steady diet of Dinosaur Jr, seeks liked minded drum basher and bass thumper to rock out" then it would be for  Baltimore's Muscle Twin

The Afghan Whigs are one of the greatest bands... The Twilight Singers are great too... For the love of god, change the band name!  If not, I'll have to come to the show and scream Afghan Whigs requests or make a 1965 sign.

Meredith Bragg would be good but I think he may still be on the road now. Well worth looking into. Might be a tad low key though. Depends on the mood you are going for.
 
 Maybe even Fatales. They are local and musically would be a good fit.
 
 Or even The Antiques. They would work with your sound.
