random, he's been (brain) dead since i started the topic (btw, thanks for the qotsa live disc back in the citpaper forum daze)...the politics that followed (and more importantly, have yet to happen) are more crucial than his biological state or lack thereof. his staure among the arab world is analogous to MLK or JFK. consider the importance those leaders' deaths had on our society.

sarcasm aside, i consider the racist, apartheid attitude of the israelis to be a moral and strategic cesspool from which the united states cannot easily extricate itself. within my admittedly limited knowledge of diplomacy, i'd rank afafat's death alongside the impending war with iran, in terms of impact with the the average american.
