Thought so.  And that was a damn fine concert by the man.  He is improving with age again. [/b]
You know, it's interesting...I caught JB this summer, because I always said I would, and I was a little disappointed...seemed like a whole lot of whoop-de-fuckin-do for a show that was only so-so.  Although I do agree with you that he aged well for a time...the extended, dubby hard funk of his early to mid 70s period is every bit as good as the early singles.  But the man's getting old, and his band is nothing like it used to be...it was just too calculated to take seriously.

On the other hand, I went to see Toots and the Maytals, and was blown away...the man's easily in his 60s, and he still rocks.  So go figure.

Toots rules.

He's 57 (allegedly) but looks older.

I didn't see him last month, but I've seen him many times.  Always a great show.  Last time I saw his show, he would stop and knock fists with each band member after every song.  He's just brimming with good vibes.

I think I'll hit a fatty and put this on:

Slightly off topic, but relevant to the reggae thread.  Did any of you catch the great Ska shows they used to have at Phantas?

In one summer, I got to see Laurel Aitken, Justin Hinds, Skavoovie, King Django, NY Ska Jazz Ensemble all on seperate nights.

you got that right.  sometimes I feel the need to top off my despressing, arty, post-punk tank with a heady dose of good vibes.

I only saw one show there.  It was The Porkers and some other Moon Ska bands.

I would have loved to have seen NY Ska Jazz Ensemble.
