The Treasures of American History is on the 2nd floor for now (unrelated to air and space).  You should check it out, ms. hooker.

i told you on the other thread:  it's there once or twice, but they seemed to work away from it as the movie went on.

Sorry...I did finish reading it.  Oh well...as long as it was there at a certain point.  How am I kidding?  I'd see it anyway.  GEEK!

dear geek,

apparentlty, you were one of the few who didn't see it this weekend - see below.

 regards,
 a fellow geek

Alien robots transform into box office gold

The shape-shifting robots of "Transformers" have taken on a new form: Huge piles of cash.

The sci-fi saga "Transformers," DreamWorks and Paramount's big-screen take on the Hasbro toys, debuted with $67.6 million in ticket sales in its first weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday. That gave it $152.5 million since opening with preview screenings Monday night.

If the weekend figures hold when final numbers are released Monday, that would give "Transformers" the biggest first week revenues ever for a non-sequel, surpassing the $151.6 million of 2002's "Spider-Man." But factoring in today's higher ticket prices, "Spider-Man" drew more people in its first week, about 26.1 million, compared to 22.5 million for "Transformers."

"Transformers," was directed by Michael Bay and features a cast led by Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, who are among the humans hurled into the action when two races of warring robots bring their feud to Earth.  Watch actors talk about making the movie »

The movie's striking visual effects and the Transformers brand -- which debuted in the 1980s with toys, a TV show and an animated movie -- proved irresistible for audiences, said Rob Moore, Paramount's head of worldwide marketing and distribution.

"Michael Bay created something visually that people hadn't seen before," Moore said. "When you look at a jet plane flying under a bridge then flipping and turning into a robot, those kinds of images people found incredibly unique and compelling."

"Transformers" also took in $93.6 million in 23 other countries where it has opened since June 28.

Took my BF to see it Friday before dinner and the PMB/Carbon Leaf/SK6 show at Wolf Trap (which, btw, I love that venue. Easily one of my favorites in the nation.) and the movie was awesome.

Shiny, shiny, shiny car porn + 2 strong (HOT) female (HOT) leading characters (did i mention hot)...

to quote TheDirector, "true story".  where did those two come from?!?  va-va-VROOOOM. the brunette (protaganist's love interest) was so hot it was distracting - which was a good thing, as is toned down the impact of the very mediocre acting.  she's the kind of hot that turns your (i.e. the male) brain off.  effects on the female brain slightly more variable.

ok, just the thought of her got my obsession going again: rachael taylor < megan fox (see pix #3, 10 and 13 - ouch)

P.S. in the movie, the protagonist has the handle "LadiesMan217" - contrast and compare to TheDirector217... coincidence?!?
