So see you at the listenie/talkie in April!

Hopefully Bags, there will be another "Big One" in April, but in all honesty, that depends on whether or not enough people show up on Friday March 5th.  Supposedly the owner of the Marx Cafe is ready to pull the plug on it if we don't draw enough of a crowd that night.  So even if you can't go, definitely tell other music fans about it.  [/b]
My friends Scott & Janice (and a couple folks they brought with them) enjoyed the last Big One...was the turnout small?

I'll do what I can to spread the word for the 5th...wish I weren't out of town (and, to my chagrin, no shows of note in San Fran to make up for it...except that damn Fire Theft/Saves the Day/Grandaddy bill, which I'm completely disinterested in....).

Maybe you could tell your friend Bob Mould about it.

I kinda prefer this....it's about destruction rather than repair...

Glad to hear your friends had a good time.  I wish I had known who they were, I would have liked to have said hi...

The turnout for the last one was pretty good considering that: the weather was crappy, there was no power at the Marx Cafe or in the neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant until well after 11pm, and the fact that we only had one day to let people know about it. So taking into consideration all those factors, I'd say it was amazing that some people did show up. But because this is a new night, it's not going to survive if the numbers are low, so I'm crossing my fingers that the Cooper Temple Clause doesn't take too much of our audience.  It will definitely be a challenge to have a good turnout on the night they're playing...

Thank you so much for that---I really appreciate the help on getting the word out, and that goes out to any of you guys on the board that tell people you know about this night.  I'd like to think that the "Big One" can survive if enough people know about it and the *right* people know about it...

I don't think we'll be able to do that at this point---all of the other Friday dates during March are locked up at Marx.  So we'll just do the best we can with what we have.  Hopefully it won't be a case where everyone is either at The Church or at Cooper Temple.  I'm crossing my fingers...

Since it's not that far away from the 9:30 Club, maybe a few Cooper Temple people will stop by afterwards seeing as how we go until 3am and it's free all evening.

my suggestion for new music discussion is along the lines of how another local has/had been doing it...  it's called a "pop shootout" and people get together and play groups/albums/songs to those attending and give a little background on each. this is an lazy weekend afteroon actvity away from a smokey loud and crowded bar. drinks, muchies are all encouraged along with the music of course...

I like this idea Kosmo---will you be hosting something along these lines in the future?  And while we're talking, are you going to be spinning at DC9 anytime soon?

yeah i could host it at chez kosmo, if people don't think greenbelt isn't to far from the center of things.  if it's on a sunday we could also go have the sunday special at the mandalay which serves yummy burmese food.

don't think i'll be spinning at dc9 any time soon... their roster of djs is set at the moment.

maybe it's time for another forum gathering in the backbar... hint hint   ;)
