Don't forget that you can get tickets ahead of time at the Black Cat. I don't know the hours, but I have had lot of luck with it. Just go during a week night around 9pm or so.
 
 Yes, I know it is too late now for the Death Cab show, but in the future same youself the disappointment and the surcharges.

I have only tried once, and failed, but normally a lot of people seem to be at the door hoping to get tickets for sold out shows. Probably because most people dont bother getting advance tickets for blackcat shows.....

i've had the same experience. if you live in the neighborhood, why not stroll by and see if lady luck fancys you for the night. if you live out in east or west bum fuck, i'd go rent a movie or something.
