i puked a little in my mouth when i read the last sentence of that article ... why can't we just get a straightforward piece from the Post about gentrification issues in places like H and U Sts:  interview long-time residents, the churches, business owners, etc, and simply report their concerns ... why does everything written about this issue have to beat around the bush?

I went down for +/- last night with a couple of friends.  The best way we can describe the area is to compare it to the Black Cat in like 1999 or 2000 before the garden district and everything else opened up.  It's not as rough as nation was, but it just seems like there is really nothing around there.  I would say it is about the same as Georgia Ave but with less people around.
 
 Anyways, does anyone know what happened to Pat Ramos in +/-?  It seems he has been replaced by someone named Jason.  I typically like Pat's songs better so it kind of sucks.  Oh well, Maybe Versus will get back together soon (haha).

I agree. What a horrible article.
 Besides, when someone walking on the street is telling me to feel safe in their neighborhood, I generally feel differently.

I think the times posted on the wall at the RnR Hotel were the same as someone posted above:
 
 8:30 - Junior League
 9:15 - Say Hi
 10:00 - +/-
 10:45 - Bishop Allen
 
 hmmm...maybe it said BA at 11:00?  Anyway, they were running a little late by the time I got there.  SHTYM came on around 9:30.  +/- around 10:30.  Didn't stay for Bishop Allen.

That's not bad, certainly not as bad as some folks had lead me to believe (these claims that BA would go on at 12:30!)
 
 While 11:00 isn't optimum (for me) for a headliner during the week, it's totally do-able.
 
 I'll be there for Long Winters next Tuesday, possibly Menomena tomorrow....

sadly, I've only been to the red and the black in the H street neighborhood...but I'm planning on heading over to RNR hotel for long winters (mainly for openers, The broken west) on tuesday...
 
 parking? is it non existent?  
 
 I lucked out last year for the red and the black show, got a spot pretty much in front of the club...seems to be too much of a hassle to take metro on a weeknight to get there.
