RNR Hotel set times
« on: March 26, 2007, 10:56:00 am »
Okay, first time for me at the RNR Hotel.  I'm wondering what set times are like.  On the  website calendar , it states doors are at 8:00 and the show starts at 8:30.  Can we make assumptions about times?  (Also, I can't tell if there's another opener, besides Say Hi To Your Mom).

 From website:

 Bishop Allen
 + / -
 Say Hi To Your Mom

     * Junior League

 Doors | 8pm
 Show | 830pm

 I'd assume the following:

 8:30 - Junior League
 9:15 - Say Hi
 10:00 - +/-
 10:45 - Bishop Allen

Of course, that's likely me being optimistic for a school night show!

4 bands on a weeknight is fucking ridiculous. Some Bishop Allen fans have jobs, ya know...too bad they probably won't go on til 12:30 at best.

Amen to that. Probably why I won't be going to Long Winters. And why start a Tuesday night show with three bands at 9:30 pm?

I've been to two shows there. The Stellastarr show of a few weeks ago had one opener and was done well before midnight, which was good.

However, the Horrors show was a mess. The Web site listed three bands starting at 9:00 pm, until the day of the show when one of the openers disappeared, though the 9:00 start-time remained the same. As it happened, there were no opening bands, and the Horrors didn't start until after 11:30. But they only played for 20-25 minutes, so it still wasn't a late night.

only 35-40 minutes for +/-, they played longer sets at SXSW.  I love them and like the rest of the bill, but with the logistical clusterphuck that is RnR Hotel I can't justify a weeknight for such a short set, I'll likely be giving away my ticket.  Watch this space.

It's hard to say for sure, it seems half of the shows I've seen there have been during snow/ice storms so there have been some delays due to that.  I think they try to stay close to the posted start time, give or take a few minutes.

You can call for specific set times the day of the show.  I don't know how early they set those of if they'll ever post in advance on their website.

I just emailed, so maybe I'll get a response today.  If so, I will surely post.

It's not bad.  The problem is getting a cab home from there.  There's ostensibly a shuttle that takes you to Union Station, but I've had friends never see that thing for close to an hour at 2:00 a.m.  (when you most need a way back towards home).

But, on a Tuesday I may have one beer, if any at all, so I can drive over.

Read this horribly overwritten WaPo feature about the neighborhood

I dunno.  I'm not buying a ticket until I get some show info, though.
