If do vote for McCain it will be simply to cancel out a vote for Obama, but then I would have to go home and take a long hot shower after voting for a republican. Not voting seems to be a cowards way out so my only other choice would be one of the other no-hopes (not Nader though). That would make me feel good about voting but also disapointed that my vote meant nothing.
i find this idea of a "meaningless" or "wasted" vote to be a funny one. there is no such thing as a wasted vote. somehow it's only worth voting if it's a closely contested election? even if your candidate is projected to win, a bigger majority = a stronger mandate. your guy is going to lose? don't let him/her lose by more than they have to.
a vote for a third-party candidate is also very meaningful. even if he/she know they're going to lose to a dem or a repub, they need & appreciate every vote they get.
