For commuter routes, visit WABA's webpage or email one of their friendly staff who can help you out.  If I lived out there, I would street ride to the Mt Vernon trail... sounds like a lovely commute.  Sure beats my Mass Ave commute!

I'm only 2.5 miles, but it's all on roads, no bike lanes, fighting traffic.

I don't do it very often, but I'm trying to change that.  It's 19 miles each way, same type of terrain as Chimbly.

Ok, I'm pro biking and all, but bikers need to follow the fucking road rules.

I was just out on my lunch break running, when two bikers almost poorlulu'd me as I jogged through the crosswalk. They clearly were running a red light, and weaved their way through traffic...I never even saw them coming.

When I yelled "assholes", the two dreadlocked white teenagers in front of me turned around, thinking I was speaking to them, but the assholes kept on pedalling, not even looking back.

I got a look at one of them, turns out he's a guy who works in my building. The other one probably does too.

I couldn't agree more, and yet they wonder why cyclists are hated by motorists/pedestrians.

Just yesterday on my Purcelville run....When I pass another cyclists/jogger I give them a warning as I approach, "passing on your left", give them a wide berth and thank them as I pass....maybe I'm not a tough 'hells angel' type cyclist, but I think it's just common courtesy....This twat yesterday, another roadie I might add, passed me without warning and so close I could smell his body odor then cut back in front of me so quick I had to brake to avoid him. Am I missing something? Are cyclists supposed to be ignorant fuckers? If so, I need to take up a different activity.

That sounds rather faggy, further reinforcing the  tenets of Dupeks theorem:

i hate bike to work day. i was minding my own goddamn business driving along today, when some idiotic cyclist turns in front of me and just takes his merry old time going down the road. so i was a bit pissed off, and a tad impatient as well. in order to avoid HITTING HIM (i should have), i had to swerve around him a little bit on the other side of the road just to get around him. there were no other cars coming. nada. then bam! out of nowhere some undercover cop pulls me over for "failing to drive on the right side of the roadway."

tried to explain to him that there was a damn biker in my way and i didn't want to hit him. he called me a fool and proceeded to degrade me. what an ass. i got out of getting a ticket though.. which was nice. but fuck that! i hate bike to work day!!!!!

So all of that practicing withholding your gag reflex really pays off in avoiding tickets!     <img src="http://pages.prodigy.net/hauxfan/Signs/Group_3/14.gif" alt=" - " />

Does anyone know the distance of the Crescent Trail, and if it's okay for road bikes.

 Cheers.
