Yeah, I turned over to the news channels around 11:30 or so...so much for porn and blaxpoitation. Right now, a natural disaster dislocating the Northeast corridor (DC - Maine) from the rest of the continental U.S. sounds like a really great fuckin' idea. Sorry NoVa folks.

 the Republican party needs to be split in to two parties, the social conservatives and the traditional Republicans focused on economic issues, I don't know how the traditional Republicans can stand being in bed with the "moral values" voters or can't see that in the long run, Bush's right wing cultural issues will eventually harm the economy
 
 unfortunately for the Dems, they don't really have an identity for people to rally behind, just a label (liberals) for morons to rally against

welcome to the U.S.S.A where we might as well have a state run media, secret watch lists, and it's only going to get worse with Patriot Act II, The Induce act, and whatever eles Act Ashcroft could possible push through the senate.
 
 It a really shame more people don't know what they gave up with the Patriot Act.  It doesn't make us any safe against terriorists.  Just more inconvience and invasion of privacy.  Feel free to say something negative about the president and get added to the TSA watch list.  Good luck getting off the TSA watch list.  Joe Public appears to think these are making the country safer, when in fact it's just a bunch of smoke and mirrors.
 
 I'm relieve to see that both ABC and NPR are as I type sticking by there guns and not calling OH.  At last check CBS backed off OH.  So there is hope...
 
 The one bright spot about all of this is the development of a highly motivated reality-based community of progressives, who will fight the war against media ownership, etc.  
 
 Still couch surfing in the UK maybe the way to go...

Unfortunately, what we seem to be learning is that a majority of our countrymen really are poorly-educated, half-witted, simpering morons.  There's really no other explanation.

I'm convinced that many Americans have no sense of World History.  i.e. Why there is a Seperation of Church and State.  And the bible does not qualify as World History.  And don't get me started on the Bush Administration policy with regards to the place of science in our society.
 
 As pointed out in a recent piece in the Post, it would appear they don't know American history either.  How does one explain a car with a bumpersticker that says "One Nation Under God" and a Conferderate Flag decal.  Clearily, they don't understand what happened during the Civil War.
 
 With that I'm off to sulk at work...
