nothing ever changes.

he doesn't care what you think.

the way bands and ticketmaster sells tickets is the real reason scalpers thrive.  blame them.

treat him like shit, threaten him if you see him, throw your best shit his way; doesn't that make YOU a better person.

money has, does, and always will make the world go around.  pretending it doesn't only leaves you in the whining dust.

 Fucker!
As I said during D-Plan Scalpergate: I am anti-scalping but banning people for scalping OFF THIS MESSAGEBOARD is a ridiculous abuse of power and misguided moral superiority. What's next: banning a boardie who commits a DUI? [/b]
FYI Anyone found using the forum to carry on the business of scalping tickets will be get banned.    They can voice any opinion they want but the act of using the forum to buy and sell tickets via posting or PMs will get them banned.

Ate you saying concert tickets are as dangerous a drug as crack? Come on. I know some people on this board  are addicted to going to shows, but I would argue that it's less harmful to them than crack is to those who are hooked on it.

This is why I generally assume everyone is an asshole until they prove otherwise.  Sad, but at least I'm pleasantly surprised, and not the other way around.  Thought I did buy this douche bag's story too.

You know, if this had been a Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit show people were scalping to, I'd say all the more power to them. Rip those fucking douchebags off!! But i dig Pumpkins so that's a bit harsh...

rusty, i disagree.  i don't have much interest or respect for those bands, but it's not like parasitism can be isolated to one genre.  scum travels.  once these douchebags set up their "business", they make no distinction - they'll scalp lame bands as much as cool ones.

it's not about good vs lame bands - it's about music fans vs. scalpers.

After my experience with the Cure presale yesterday, I have to say I am utterly disgusted with the concert industry. The Cure puts on a presale and offers a password through their web site, which you have to sign up for so you think "hey, this seems legit...maybe I'll get some good seats!". Ticketmaster holds the presale, and yet only single tickets way in the back pop up (both initially and after a long while). Boardies can't get anything better than what, maybe 35 rows back?

And somehow even though I can only access single tickets, on E-bay there are primo tickets already being sold...can you say WTF? I know that often better seats go on sale during general sale so I could try then, but it still angers me that clearly scalpers are being enabled somehow, and in all cases I think it's Ticketmaster. Maybe even bands are in on it and they are able to get a better cut somehow, at this point nothing would surprise me. But as a consumer, I have made a choice and if I feel like a situation is crappy, then I just make the choice to not go. Not that I want to punish bands, but really, if you care about your fans you will do what you can to take care of them and give them something better than scraps.

Aren't you guys tossing around the word "scum" rather lightly?

Married guys who go to strip clubs and get lap dances are scum.

People who drink eight beers at a bar or club and jump in their car and drive home are scum.

People who sexually abuse children are scum.

Scalpers? Certainly they are not to be applauded. But "scum"? Nah, I don't think so.

Wait a minute.  What about "lonely single guys not in any sort of relationship?"  Being called "scum" on a Friday would totally ruin my weekend.

This should be another thread, but since most of the people on this board are passionate about seeing shows and have purchased a LOT of tickets, I always wondered what everyone would come up with if you (collectively) tried to come up with the fairest possible distribution of tickets for a given show.  Rules, suggestions, etc.  Be specific.  Lord knows, there have many hundreds of solutions that venues and bands have tried.  If we can map the human genome we should be able to come up with a way to equitably distribute tickets to those who really want them and minimize scalpers.

I strongly think that the band is in on the "Front row tickets wind up on Stub Hub before the presale" situation.  Revenue is down and if a band can make another $20,000 a show by giving some of the best tickets to brokers, then they'll do it.  It's not fair but I think that's what happens.

The seats weren't all bad.  There just weren't many of them.  People were pulling up seats as close as row L, from what I read.  I managed to get tickets in Section 1 myself.  The presale was probably just a little bit of everything.  Some good.  Some not-so-good.  I got the "nothing available" message a couple times, so there weren't many seats to go around in the first place.  Or the demand was actually pretty high.

There's no excuse for starting 20 minutes late though.

nike4o1 I hope your girlfriend gives you her herpees.  Not only are scalpers scum of the earth, but you even lie about it.  Cocksmoker.

Good lord - you make chokey chicken look like a nice guy, and I didn't think that was possible. [/b]
Apology accepted, and as big a prick as this clown is, just think if the majority of us would have gotten stiffed for the show on top of it?  I'm a pacifist in general, but my "kill the phuckin scalper scum" exception would have been in play.

My opinion on these clowns is well known so I'm not going to launch into another tirade, all I can say is sad, very phuckin, sad.....
