I think KRS1 was actually all over the place lyrically, he did do Stop the Violence, but he wasn't always so peaceful.

Well then, that beggars the question, what kind of rap do you think it is? Bearing in mind it contains three classic elements of Gangsta rap......

and that was like 15 years ago. isn't gangsta rap usually put out by individuals that claim to be (at least former) members of, you know, a gang? calling the beasties gangsta rap would be like calling interpol brit-pop

Coudnt 3 people who spend a lot of time together be described as a gang?

 gang1     P   Pronunciation Key  (gng)
 n.
A group of criminals or hoodlums who band together for mutual protection and profit.

A group of adolescents who band together, especially a group of delinquents.

Informal. A group of people who associate regularly on a social basis: The whole gang from the office went to a clambake.

A group of laborers organized together on one job or under one foreperson: a railroad gang.

A matched or coordinated set, as of tools: a gang of chisels.

A pack of wolves or wild dogs.

A herd, especially of buffalo or elk. See Synonyms at flock1.

 v. ganged, gang·ing, gangs
 v. intr.
To band together as a group or gang.

Like the clash calling themselves the last gang in town, but there were 4 of them.
