 Someone said that the beastie boys cannot be gangsta rap because they were not in a gang. I would contend that they fulfill the dictionary definition of a gang. But clearly Gangsta rappers only make up a small subset of gang members.

Gangsta rappers are not gang memmbers. They are millionairres selling themselves as gang members. Otherwise the dumb fucks that buy that type of "music" wouldn't buy their "music".
