Yawn...in 5 years from now, someone will see that list, roll their eyes and say "God, that's SO 2005". Of course, it sounds like that's exactly what the people putting it together were trying to do.

this looks suspiciously like a "best american albums of 2005" list

Eu não o negociaria para uma passagem da vida às terras do polo, não se você me deu a cabeça de Cleopatra em uma placa.

Translation according to Babelfish.

"I would not negotiate it for a ticket of the life to lands of polo, not if you he gave the head to me of Cleopatra in a plate."

The list title is a little misleading - it's more like a list of the top forty active up & comers. But they probably explain that in the notes.

Other that that - I like it. I'll be checking out the mp3s of those I don't know.

 BONUS ?:

This is driving me mad in a tip-of-tongue kind of way. Check the banner to the right on the link for this list. Under ABOUT there are lyrics.
 Who is it from?

Yeah, I didn't see this line the first time I read it:
The purpose of this list is to reward bands for generating buzz in the year 2005.

Since we've been called all sorts around these parts, who's in for our own list of the best bands in the us?
