Rollins Band/Black flag set show
« on: June 01, 2003, 09:58:00 pm »
I read on the dischord site the Q and Not U is going to opening that show. If so, that makes for one hell of a show, not just just Henry Rollins, but also Keith Morris, and to have Q and Not U open, hot damn. So what's the word, will there actually be Q and Not  U or is dischord lying as usual?

This is going to rock.  I'm going for Q and Not U, but I'll stay for the rest of the show.  Sounds interesting.

I'm leaning toward going. The cause is a good one (well, at least it's an interesting one, since I've seen both of those HBO specials) and while Greg Ginn's guitar will be missed, seeing Hank up there doing Police Story is tough to miss.

I've heard that Ginn is putting together a "First Four Years" Black Flag Reunion tour.

Yeah, isn't it a benefit an animal shelter or something?

At any rate, I will be there.

It's an Adopt-a-cat program or something.  Apparently, he really likes cats but really hates Henry.

Great show.  Ian MacKaye joined Hank onstage for Rise Above.  The guy from Clutch did American Waste.  The guy from the Goons was there.  Keith Morris did a great 12 minute set.  Although, as a friend pointed out, the songs he wrote as an angry 18 year old somehow sound a lot different coming from a 40 year-old with dreadlocks and a bald spot.

Were people going insane?  People just don't write songs like Black Flag did.

I thought the show was absolutely fantastic...by the time Rollins came out, the band was warmed up and then it was all out war.  Seeing Ian come out was pretty fun, but then Rollins got down to business.  I think most of the audience just isn't used to seeing stuff that intense any more.  I know, I know...I'm sounding old...but Rollins' delivery of those songs was just brutal. I am so glad I got to see this show, I thought it was the real deal. Seeing stuff like "My War" and "Revenge" live was so great!  I missed Q and Not U, but damn, I felt like I got my money's worth.

wow.  what a great show.  keith and henry were flat out amazing, especially henry.  that man is a fucking nut.  you could see the beads of sweat dripping off his face.  ian coming out to do rise above with henry was a nice surprise.  but shit, everybody was going nuts.  my war, revenge, nervous breakdown, six pack, tv party, all the black flag classics were there.
