Most art is a pile of crap...but it's art simply because of the fact it made me think about it and come to the decision it's a pile of crap.

So the answer to your question is...it's all art.

He's not a loser -- he's a social critic on the kitsch-y qualities of American popular culture.

Don't you people know this work that greets you right outside the Hirshhorn:

thanks GGW,

you are clearly a scholar. I dont really like Koons that much. I prefer Robert Arneson.... 3 excellent examples of his work are in the hirshorn.

Jeff Koons came to speak to the graduate art students at my university...this middle aged grad student brought up a painting to show him (maybe she was asking for it) and he told her that maybe painting wasn't her thing and said, "You know, you're still kind of attractive.  What you should do is go to a subway and start giving homeless guys blow jobs and film it.  That's what you should do."

The Koons story is great....

it reminds me of a story of a big boss where I work. He had a graduate syudent who kept dropping things, breaking stuff and being generally useless. After one particularly bad incident he gave the student a quarter and said "here's 25cents phone your mum and tell her you will never be a scientist"
