Is Blur worth $25?
« on: June 12, 2003, 08:16:00 am »
Or should I cling to my happy memories of seeing them on the Great Escape tour?

Are they even playing Parklife era songs? I like some of thier recent singles (Tender & Song 2) but little else has been of interest. Weren't they also crap at SXSW?

If they had a really strong support act it might sway me to spend the dosh. But of course by the time they announce them the show will probably soldout... oh well cling to happy memories it is.

if this were in support of the greatest hits disc i'd be incline to go... however the thought of being crammed in the club full of frat boys waiting to go "woo hoo" makes me want to find the new one in a bargin bin. Then crank it up really loud and have kosmette bump into me every once awhile. money and time better spent if you ask me   ;)

I'm pretty pleased with the ticket price, too.  I'm hoping they'll play some parklife-era stuff, I heard they did a few of those at field day.

so mankie are you going to be home shaving your bits that night?

I thought even you would be up for seeing Blur. Sure Damon is a Wanker and their bast albums are (way) behind them.....But still, its quintessence of  Britain wrapped up in a 180seconds of frenzy.

I confess to owning parklife, and found it very very average. Plus, with Damon being a complete wanker doesn't help.

If you end up not going you can come over to my gaff and give me a bikini wax!

Well I would skip Blur if I could give you the full Brazilian, but Fico does not seem to be around........

Parklife average? When did you lose touch Mankie?

Welcome to the beautiful south......1989

 Parklife was 1994.

Thirsty I believe you may be on to something. The only problem is I like both albums..... Where does that leave me?

Hey thirsty, why make comments and take them back?

It is annoying and your comment was funny.

Plus I quoted you so now it looks odd.

I think that the show's worth it. The woo-hoo crowd (is that like wu-tang clan?) probably isn't aware that Blur is touring and I'm still kicking myself for not seeing Blur when they played at the Black Cat a few years ago (i was away at school). The show at the Nation wasn't very good because of the venue.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Blur at 9:30.

I'm going, but I first saw Blur on the Parklife tour in 1994 and in general I'm actually a fan of their earliest stuff.  I don't know why, but I LOVE Leisure (guess it conjures up all those memories of being 16 and plus there was so much other fantastic stuff coming out around that time).  Modern Life is Rubbish is also fantastic. As they've gone on, I find Blur's records have become less consistent...still the occasional great song, but I hate stuff like M.O.R. and Tender.  Their new record has some great tunes, but others that don't do a thing for me.  Guess I'll be happy in the very off chance that they do "Parklife" or even "Beetlebum".  That would be worth it for me.  I'm not going to hold my breath for "There's No Other Way" or "I Know".    :)
