Fort Reno Schedule
« on: June 12, 2003, 09:54:00 am »
...is up.

Bob Mould is playing June 23rd

Fugazi is not playing this year (Is it too early to start the break-up rumors?)

Is it me or has their been a general lack of Fugazi shows these past 2 years?  At one point, it was difficult to not see Fugazi play.

Good to see The Apes are playing!

That's nice, but usually when you hear of "free music in a park" it's either:

 1. Smooth Jazz
 2. Bad Acoustic Duos
 3. Kids Music

While I might not be into most of those Ft. Reno bands, I'm glad that it's around and that people work to keep it that way.

I'm tempted to go to these shows. This missing shows is getting old. (wanted to go to Ash last night for example) Do people take kids to these shows or what? Then again, I'd hate to take Rory and have everyone thinking, "what dick brings a baby to a concert?"

Apes, Trans Am, Dismemberment Plan, Metropolitan, and Q and Not U.  But hey, those are all recognized bands.  So I couldn't really tell you about the obscure of obscure DC bands.

Ft. Reno is a large grassy area.  Bring some food, a blanket and your kids.  Hell, bring the missus along as well.  Tons of people do.

Actually, I was just talking to a colleague about this.  He loves outdoor shows because he can bring his kids (boys, 5 and 7).  Makes sense, even alternative music fans procreate on occasion!  I say bring 'em.  And this from a non-parent who sometimes dreads the thought of kids at "big people's stuff."

That's exactly why I asked the question, I feel the same way.

One thing that really gets on my wick is when you go into a very posh restaurant for a nice romantic dinner with your 'other' and there's some brat in there screaming it's head off and throwing food everywhere....isn't that why we have Chuck 'e' Cheese and such places? Or the people who take newborns into the movie theatre..ignorant bastards!
