« on: June 12, 2003, 01:46:00 pm »
Did anyone else read  this? Apparently it will be the original line up...hmmm. I can't see it being good, but who knows.

I saw the Pistols reunion last year in LA and they kicked ass.  I would recommend it.

yes it's a total sellout and unless it's at the 9:30 club i ain't going to a go-go.  saw them on the filthy lucre tour and had a great time, but it's not they have new material or anything.

say what you will... but at least glen matlock was a real musician and not someone brought to play the part of the goof.  sid very rarely play on time in key, he basically leapt about stage hitting the bass strings when he pleased.  so seeing the orginal members will be a better musical experience than the version that made that faithful journey through the south.  i'm sure it would have been worth it see johnny and sid attempt to take the piss out of the audience.

seeing as the sex pistols will never record new material which will result in an hour show tops and it will probably be at nissan... i got to thinking (dangerous that) what co-headling/support act would it take for me to see this show.

and to make it fun, what would yours be... but with the following guidelines

 1.  It has to be a band that wont otherwise be heading to the area for a couple years.  i.e. a one off US tour only with The Sex Pistols.

 2.  It has to be a band that the audience wont tear to shreds. i.e. Belle & Sebtainstan,

 3.  If it's another reunion tour it has to be a band that can be realistically reunited. i.e. Without Stiv Bator any The Dead Boys reunion band wouldn't qualify.

 My very short list

 New Order
 Iggy & The Stooges
T.Rex

Kosmo!

 Sham 69
The Stranglers (although I'd say pistols should support the Stranglers)
 The Damned

 How are those for starters?

 a couple more

 The Boomtown Rats
 The Undertones

I saw the Filthy Lucre tour as well.  I wish it wasn't at George Mason. It seemed so sterile. So passionless.  I would still go see them at a small club; I would most likely skip a large venue, unless, of course, 2 or more of the below listed bands joined in.

As far as other acts with 'em....

X-Ray Spex (I think I would wet myself at that show; heck, just the thought of it...)

 Siouxsie and the Banshees

 Eater

 Gang of Four

 Nina Hagen

The Stranglers, Damned, and Iggy would also be good.

Stranglers are ok... but i don't see them as being worthy of seating in traffic for two plus hours getting out of nissan

They are one of probably two bands that I would camp out to buy tickets for.

this crossed my mind... but i can't seen them being any good live.  maybe they could use the actors that protrayed them in 24 hour party people.

sorry mate, there's only one Shaun. That bloke that played him looked nothing like him by the way, they should've given me that part....the lad that played Bernard Sumner was brilliant though.

I'd rather see Lydon reform Public Image Limited with Keith Levine and the other original members.  The first three ablums were brilliant.

New Order is still together (minus Gillian).  I don't think they've toured the states lately but were doing the festivals in the UK last year promoting the Get Ready album.  I think they're working on a new album now.

The Stone Roses and The Smiths would be the bands I'd like to see reformed.
