Kasabian was fantastic.  Best set Ive seen in awhile...I was so so on the album, but the live performance just blew me away.  Ill be very interested to see if they hit it big.

 As for the Music....

I saw tem a while back when they opened up for the Vines and they absolutely blew me away. Dont get me wrong, it was still a good show, but just not mindblowing like the previous one I saw. As I see it, there were 3 problems.

#1 - The microphone and the overall speaker system was waaay too low. As soon as they started playing, I could tell something was wrong. When I saw them before his voice took over and filled the room. THis time you could barely hear him. Kasabian had the volume a lot higher and it really helped their show.

#2 - Inexplicably (or maybe someone can enlighten me) but Rob Harvey wasnt hitting the high notes he normally does. The previous show he would hit the high notes on Getaway and others and he didnt here. No clue why, but it took away from the show.

#3 - Kasabian were unbelievable. An absolutely incredible set. Lead singer is like a Mick Jagger/Liam Gallagher in the making. Measuring up to them proved to be incredibly difficult last night.

I brought a bunch of friends who were blown away by Kasabian and just so-so on The Music. All in all, still a great rock show. The Music at 80% are still better than most of the bands out there....But they were really outshined by Kasabian. They had a memorable set.

kasabian was very good, incredibly loose for a first-album show ... i was expecting just the album cuts and they went off on a lot of loose psychedelic jams, very spacey ... the bassist looked like he was about to puke on himself the entire show ...

kasabian's lead singer reminded me of a poor man's Howlin' Pete Almqvist ... tried to get the same kind of fey, Mick Jagger-esque shit going on, but he didn't quite know what he was doing up there ...

very good set though, i was impressed ...

i hadn't heard the music before, and i really liked them ... kind of a janes addiction / zeppelin mixture, some heavy stuff, some poppy stuff, i thought they had a really good range of music ... definitely got repetitive towards the end of the set, and a LOT of people left, i'd say more than half of the crowd was gone by 12:15am or so ...

afterparty at DC 9 was fun, typical liberation dance party stuff, just with kasabian schwag all over the place ...

oh, the biggest negative the entire night were the fucking strobe lights, especially during kasabian's set ... i had to literally look away from the stage for a few of their songs, it was horrible ...

930 staph ... was this just a mistake on their part, or were they intentionally trying to blind the entire crowd?

Just checked The Music's forum and found that the lead singer was extremely sick.  Makes sense...

Hope people give them a 2nd chance...

The music selection between sets was great. My buddies and I had a fine time playing 'what/who is this'. Since much of it is brand new, we had to wing it a lot and I can see that some of our guesses were on the money quite often. Good times.

Nice setlist, Ravedubin. A special thx for the New Pornographers cut.

Yeah - I have to admit liking Kasabian alot more than The Music...but I'll give them another chance since the singer was ill. He definitely sounds like Perry and I see the Stone Roses influence...but I don't get why everyone says there's a Led Zep influence. Maybe someone can educate me.

his voice, at times, sounded like robert plant's and they had some songs that had a blues/metal edge to them that just sounded a bit like zep

but this was my first time hearing them, and i had heard the comparison before-hand, so i'm sure that colored my judgement

I ran info them while coming after watching the advance screening of Constantine and after the show. I was at The Music/Kasabian show, and it was a great time. Both bands put on a great show.

Good show. Kasabian was the best by far. That first band was not good at all.

Did anyone else think that the Music looked like a bunch of high schoolers? Robert Harvey desperately needs a haircut, and the bass player looked like a 17 year old metalhead with his shaved head and gold chain. I really found it amusing for some reason.

Other than that, I was bored with their set about half way through, and I had really liked them with the Vines. Just didn't do much for me Friday night.
