Would be great if it's because it just isn't happening but, sadly, that's just not the norm.
Do you mean it would be great if knowledge about depression were made more public? If so, I agree. Poor Andrew and his parents.
Actually, I meant that, hopefully, no more suicides. But getting the knowledge out there is good too.
Contrary to popular belief, it's usually the manic depressives (they swing both ways on the mood scales), not the uni-polar depressives, who end up commiting suicide. Don't know a thing about Andrew's case. Don't even know if he was a manic depressive but I bet you he was. Though I remember the name, I can't even remember the tv show! (Must have aired during one of my long bouts of ignoring tv. Or maybe I just didn't like the show.)
For friends and family members of manic depressives: Be especially cognizant when they are about ready to dip out of their manic stages. That's when they tend to be the most suicide prone.
