Bob Johnston, 83, Dies; Produced Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash Albums



Bob Johnston, who produced a string of classic albums in the 1960s and ?70s including Bob Dylan?s ?Highway 61 Revisited? and ?Blonde on Blonde? and Johnny Cash?s ?At Folsom Prison,? died on Friday in Gallatin, Tenn. He was 83.

...it is Mr. Johnston to whom Mr. Dylan is talking when he asks, ?Is it rolling, Bob?? at the beginning of the song ?To Be Alone With You?

Mr. Johnston worked with Simon and Garfunkel on ?Sounds of Silence? and ?Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme,? and with Leonard Cohen on ?Songs of Love and Hate? and two other albums.
