I like Blondie....but putting Debbie Harry in that list is re-duck-u-less
One could make the argument she has sold more records than Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison, or Ray Davies (unless I am way off on my sales figures I just googled) and probably has more "recognizable to common people in 2019" songs than all three together. Debbie Harry being on this doesn't seem absurd to me.
I almost added Ferry to that list
Davies I get...most people don't understand how important the kinks are
But I'd say VM is more popular overall and has more sales than blondie...but I could be wrong

Agreed. My 12 year old wouldn't recognize the names Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison, Kinks/Ray Davies. She definitely knows Blondie though.

I think influence outweighs popularity in terms of importance

But Blondie and particularly Debbie Harry has had an incredible influence on women (and men) not so much musically but on what a woman could be, do and represent within rock and roll

Roxy Music is always put down in the US but they are after Bowie the most important UK act until the Sex Pistols and the most important influence on the early 80s New Romantic movement (Duran Duran etc)

That sucks but not entirely surprising as he had dropped out of the public eye

Definitely one of the finest American lyricists in modern music...maybe behind Dylan

Hug the ones you are closest with . . . then hug everyone else. You, just never know, how time runs against your chances to say goodbye.

Love you and will always miss you, my dear friend.

Until, I see you again.   :'(
