Celebration (open for SP at 9:30 on 7/10)
http://www.myspace.com/celebrationcelebration "In short, this band is the most fully realised and three-dimensional stage of a decade-long journey through a string of striking, unsettling and influential projects. Here's a little history: first came the unhinged punk expressionism of Jaks, which Katrina now describes as "kind of a spastic mess-induced rock band - it was really fun and exciting and all about being violent". But despite their low-budget ferocity, the recordings that Jaks made have passed into underground legend, and - reissued in 2005 by Three One G - they're now inspiring a new generation."
Yeasayer http://www.myspace.com/yeasayer (BYT loves them -
http://www.brightestyoungthings.com/music/yeasayer-listening-party/) "At times, the foursome projected a wholly distinct vibe like a manic Peter Gabriel -era Genesis channeled through Animal Collective but the band also manipulates their collective vocals (yes, they all sing) producing a sweet, harmonious cacophony."
Dragons Of Zynth http://www.myspace.com/dragonsofzynth "It's a beast of rabid textures as keys are almost impossible to discern as walls and walls of distortion, horns and speed screeching guitar solos get thrown about as if TV on the Radio invaded a jam session with Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene. "Who Rize Above" is a thrash-funk monster of an anthem that explodes with yelps and afro-intensive drums designed specifically to make one mosh, while "Funky Genius" takes spoken word into new atmospheres with layers of ivory stabs and jazzy drum fills."
