« on: November 07, 2003, 05:29:00 pm »
Has anyone been to one of these?

 SATURDAY NOVEMBER 8TH
POSITIVE FORCE PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET
AND BENEFIT SHOW FOR THE LATIN AMERICAN YOUTH CENTER
market at 1 pm and bands at 3 pm
 the Delorean
 Paper Doll
 4chamberheart
 the Washington Social Club
 $5 all ages
Flemming Center 1426 9th Street NW DC

Is the flea market worth checking out?  Anything interesting?

FYI - the positive force website says the bands start at 2:00 - not 3:00.

I went.  Saw 3 of the 4 bands. Not sure which one I missed - either 4chamberheart or The Delorean.  Paper Doll and WSC were really good.

As for the flea market, there wasn't a whole lot there.  Maybe 5-6 tables of stuff.  Mark Anderson had a few crates of CDs/Records/Videos.  $5 each, but not a lot to choose from.  Someone had a ton of music for sale on the porch out back, but they were a little more expensive at $7-10 per cd.  Tons of what looked like hardcore 45s, if you had the patience to dig through them.  A few tables also had political/protest info.  I'd compare the size of the place to The Warehouse.

I'd go again, if the bands look interesting. I wouldn't necessarily go just for the flea market.

Thanks for the review.  Don't know the bands besides WSC.
